Premium Picks

Game: Kansas City at Toronto (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 stars on Toronto -145 (risk 300 to win 207)

The second worst road team in the league takes to the road after six straight at home. They head to Toronto where they have lost 7 of 9 so far this year. Luke Hudson has posted a 10.66 ERA on the road this season. He'll enjoy very little run support from a team that scores 3.9 per game on the road. Toronto can tee off on him and a bullpen with a 5.67 road ERA. The Jays score 5.7 per game at home. Toronto is a power team and that spells lots of trouble for KC. The Royals are 5-29 this season on the road vs. teams that average 1.25+ home runs per game. Toronto is motivated as they come in off a shutout. They are 13-5 the past two seasons following a shutout. KC is 3-31 vs. AL East opponents the last two seasons. Look for that to be 3-32 after tongiht's game.

Game: Washington at Atlanta (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Atlanta -173 (risk 200 to win 116)

Chuck James is 6-3 including 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in his last three starts. He's facing a Washington team that has lost five straight games and who starts Ramon Ortiz off his worst start of the season. Ortiz is 1-4 with an 8.24 ERA vs. the Braves. Washington gave up 9 runs to Florida two days ago and theya re 0-12 this season on the road following a game in which they allowed 9+ runs. Atlanta here.

Game: Milwaukee at Florida (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 stars on Florida -109 (risk 200 to win 183)

Milwaukee is off a sweep of Colorado but that was at home. They now go on the road where they are 23-39 on the season as they face the hot Florida Marlins - winners of four straight games. We get a winning starter in Nolasco (5-3 at home) vs. a loser in Bush (3-5 on the road). Nolasco has been better of late (3.66 ERA over last three) than Bush (4.50 ERA over his last three). Milwaukee is just 12-21 this season on the road at +125 to -125 and 17-33 on the road vs. right handed starters. Fade the Brewers on the road with the hot Marlins for virtually even money.

How much to bet? I recommend 1% of your bankroll for every star. A one-star pick = 1% of bankroll. A five-star pick = 5% of bankroll. It is strongly recommended that you never bet more than 5% of your bankroll on any given game! Remember, there are no such thing as locks. Never bet over your head and you'll live to see another day. Approach your bets as an investment that grows steadily over the long-term. For more, see my write-up on Bankroll Management.
