Mlb Predictions - August 16, 2008We had a rough day on the diamond yesterday as we dropped all five selections. Today we look to rebound with three more MLB plays. ![]() Today's MLB Baseball Picks: While Roy Halladay is one of the top pitchers in baseball, Fenway Park hasn't been kind to him. The Sox have won his last three starts here and over his career they are 11-6 when Halladay takes the mound at Fenway. Those 17 games have seen the Sox score 4.6 runs a game - well above what we have seen Halladay yield over his career. The Sox are also 43-16 at the Fenz, and the offense is as hot as it has been all season. The Sox have produced 92 runs over their last 12 games, and have scored 54 in their last five appearances at Fenway, or almost 11 a game. The Blue Jays scored all of four runs in a three-game series here early in the season, and that won't get it done here. The Sox get the call in this one. Game: Colorado at Washington (7:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Colorado +131 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 2.6) We aren’t sure if you could ever find any value on a team that has dropped eight straight games, especially as a favorite. We sure don't see any, in fact quite the opposite. The Rockies have been the worst team in baseball against right-handed pitching where they are a dreadful 35-54, or winning just 39% of their games. That isn't what they will be facing tonight. The Rockies will see a lefthander in John Lannan, and that adds some charm to this pick as the Rockies are a much different team against southpaws, carrying a 20-15 mark into this one or winning 57% of their games. Lannan has pitched well, but with a bullpen that implodes on a regular basis and one that has allowed 50 runs in his 23 starts, the wins haven't come easy. The Nats are just 6-17 in his 23 starts and more recently they are 2-12. We'll take the value on the visiting Rockies as a dog in this game. Game: St Louis at Cincinnati (7:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on St Louis -115 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 1.7) At this time last year Aaron Harang was looking toward a Cy Young award. Last year a poor Reds team was 24-10 when Harang took the ball. This year things have changed dramatically. Harang is currently just 4-13 and what makes it worse is that he has been pitching worse, as the season progresses noted by his 9.98 ERA over his last three starts. It has swelled his ERA to over the five mark and as a whole the Reds have gone home for the summer. They Dealt Adam Dunn and Ken Griffey Jr. leaving the middle of the lineup depleted and it has shown. The Reds have gone 4-16 over their last 20 games and looked horrible doing so. The Cards have had no trouble winning on the road where their 36-28 mark is by far tops in the National League and only second to the Angels in all of baseball. We are taking them here to make it back-to-back over the falling Reds. Results: 2-1 ![]() MLB Baseball Picks Resources:
