Mlb Free Tips - August 09, 2007
Picked up the sweep last night (3-0) for +8.2 units. We have have been nailing our 4-unit selections to the tune of 73-44 since the start of the season. Three plays today with two early-afternoon games and another 4-unit play.
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: Los Angeles Dodgers at Cincinnati (12:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Cincinnati +111 (risk 2 to win 2.2)
Not sure how a team that is 1-9 in their last 10 games, and has been shutout three straight, and four of five ends up a favorite, but we will bite. The Dodgers offense has gone as stone cold, as the Yankees offense has been hot. We watched another team go through this earlier in the season, when the Braves went ice-cold. They were shutout in three straight, and came back with a one-run performance in the fourth game. The Reds have been 19-14 in their last 33, and playing well. They have currently won four straight and are 10-3 in their last 13 at home. The Dodgers woes aren't just getting shut-out 3 straight, they have now lost 6 straight series. Reds with the sweep.
Game: Tampa Bay at Detroit (1:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Detroit -136 (risk 4 to win 2.9)
The Tigers will look to make it three of four against Tampa Bay today. Jeremy Bonderman has not pitched well of late, but he has been strong at home all season. Bonderman is 5-2 with a 3.71 ERA at Comerica. The D-Rays have had no success against Bonderman. He possesses a 4-1 record with a 1.71 ERA against the D-Rays. The current D-Ray lineup hits just .195 against him. Scott Kazmir has pitched very lately, but he will be facing a team on the road that has beaten him up. Kazmir is just 1-3 against the Tigers, sporting an uncharacteristic 5.47 ERA. The D-Rays have been the worst road team in baseball the last five seasons and have now gone just 3-19 in their last 22 road contests. The Rays have given up 175 runs in those 22 games, or 8 a game! The Tigers are at their best against LHP where they have posted a 22-10 record and big money for their backers. We will ride them in this one.
Game: Florida at Philadelphia (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Philadelphia -1.5 runs +149 (risk 3 to win 4.5)
The Phillies have been on a tear, especially at home where they have now won five straight, and nine of their last 10. The Marlins, have not found the win column on the road much lately. They have now dropped 9 of 10. Kyle Kendrick has been solid, especially when pitching in front of the home fans. He is a perfect 4-0 at home, and his last four home starts show him with a superb 2.39 ERA. Mitre has really struggled of late. He has a 9.19 ERA over his last three starts. The Phillies are a big offensive team that has been scoring a lot. It has led them 60 wins, and of those 60 wins they have a 54-6 mark against the -1.5 runline. If you’r playing this team to win, which we are, it certainly has a lot of value playing them on the runline, as opposed to the moneyline. Phil's sweep.
