Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: St Louis at Pittsburgh (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Game Total UNDER 7 +110 (risk 4 to win 4.4)

The Cards are certainly glad to see Chris Carpenter back to form after being sidelined by injuries. Carpenter has pitched to a 2.10 ERA on the season, and 11 of his 17 starts have resulted in seven runs or less being scored in the game. What makes this one even more valuable to the UNDER is the fact that over his career he has absolutely dominated this Pirates team with a 10-1 record and 2.06 ERA. The Cards are at their worst on the road against lefthand pitching where they rank near the bottom of the league in run production. I like this one to go UNDER the total.
Game: Milwaukee at Houston (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Houston -130 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.3)
The Milwaukee Brewers looked like contenders early on in the NL Central, when it was thought that the departures of Sheets and Sabathia would leave them on the outside looking in. That has happened as the season has progressed as those holes have taken their toll, and the Brewers are just 21-31 over their last 52 games. It will be up to one of those fill-ins, Charles Villanueva, to stem the tide, but he is an unlikely source. Villanueva has pitched to a 6 ERA on the season, has a 2-8 record, and has made but two starts with neither lasting more than five innings. The Astros may have found something in Bud Norris, who went on the road and shutout a tough Cardinals team for seven innings. The Astros have been solid at home, winning 10 of their last 14 against a righthand starter. I'll back them here in this one.
Game: Tampa Bay at Seattle (10:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Seattle -125 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3.2)

The Seattle Mariners always knew they had a future star in Felix Hernandez, and this season that star has begun to shine. Hernandez has been the key figure in a team that went from 102 losses a year ago, to within striking distance this season of a wildcard berth. Hernandez is 12-4 with a 2.68 ERA, and has already blanked this Tampa lineup through seven innings earlier in the season. The Rays have been a force at home, but such has not been the case on the road, where they are a losing team. The Rays are six games under .500 this season on the road, and 75-156 in their last 231 games, and just 3-8 in their last 11 against a team with a winning home record. Mariners strong with king Felix on the hill at 9-1 in his last 10 starts. I'll go with the Mariners here.

Game: Tampa Bay at Seattle (10:15 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Seattle -1.5 runs +175 (runline) (risk 3 to win 5.3)
The Mariners are quite an effective team with Hernandez on the mound. They have now won nine of his last 10 starts. Over Hernandez’s career, the Mariners sport a flawless 5-0 mark against the Rays when he starts against them at home. Couple this with the Rays road futility that sees them six games under .500 on the road, and 75-156 over the last 231 games on the highway, and getting 1.75-1 odds on the Mariners to cash a two-run win certainly is enticing, so I'll ride with them here on the runline.

Results: 2-2
