Mlb Baseball Pick Online - August 07, 2007

Today we have three picks including a 5-unit selection...

Today's MLB Baseball Picks:

Game: Cleveland at Chicago White Sox (8:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Chicago White Sox +114 (risk 3 to win 3.4)

The Indians have been slumping for a long time. The jury is out if this team is as good as it was at the start of the season. Are they good or are they the 29-30 team they have been the last 59 games? Either way, the facts are there. The Indians have averaged less than 4 runs per game over their last 20 while the White Sox offense has been averaging about 5 in the last 20. Suddenly the White Sox are 23-16 over their last 39 and have won 4 in a row - all on the road,. Now they come home feeling good. The White Sox have won five of Danks last seven starts, only losing to the red-hot Yankees and the team with the league's best record in Boston. Jake Westbrook has pitched better of late, but he has on many occasion this season been hit very hard, and has just two wins to his credit all season. The  Tribe have lost five of his last seven starts. The White Sox will make it five straight wins tonight.

Game: Minnesota at Kansas City (8:10 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Kansas City -103 (risk 5 to win 4.9)

It's easy to see why this moneyline is what it is. The home team has Kansas City written across the front of the uniform. KC has been horrible for several years now, but hold on... The times, they be a changin! The Royals have some vets and young talent, and a few good arms and it is beginning to show dividends. If the season started June 1st, the Royals are in second place in the Central just 1.5 games out! They are 29-27 over their last 56, certainly a long enough stretch to show the strides this team has made. They will bring that record, along with their best pitcher to the mound at home tonight vs. a struggling team and the oddsmakers have them as virtually even money. The Twins are really struggling right now. Cuddyer, Morneau and Hunter went a combined 3-31 in the Cleveland series and the Twins have now scored more than 4 runs just once in 14 games. Boof Bonser has not won in an eternity, with his last win coming nearly two months ago. He has been 0-5 with a 5+ ERA since that last win. The Royals have won four straight at home, winning by a combined score 29-6. Brian Bannister has really emerged and has pitched to a 1.71 ERA in his last three and the Royals are now 8-3 in his last 11 starts. Royals take the opener.

Game: Pittsburgh at Arizona (9:40 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Arizona -132 (risk 3 to win 2.3)

Here we have two teams going in completely opposite directions. The Pirates have lost 16 of their last 19 games. Arizona has won 13 of 15. Pittsburgh is starting Tom Gorzelanny who after a good start has really cooled. He's winless in his last three starts posting a 7.05 ERA. The Pirates are 19-32 on the road, scoring 3.9 runs per game. The past two seasons they are 18-51 on the road vs. winning teams! That includes a 9-26 mark as a road dog of +100 to +125.  Arizona's offense is inept too but whereas Pittsburgh is allowing 5.6 per game on the road on the season and 6.9 per game over their last seven, Arizona holds opponents to 4.5 per game at home. This line has value on a hot team vs. a horrible cold team with a cold starting pitcher.

Results: 1-2

This is a great match-up for the Os. Erik Bedard has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 14 of his last 17 starts. That doesn't bode well for a Tampa Bay team that can't hold teams down. The D-Ray...
