Mlb Pick - August 06, 2007
It looked like 3-0 yesterday as Milwaukee took a 6-1 lead into the ninth. But, they lost in extra innings to leave us at 2-1 for the day.
Today's MLB Baseball Picks:
Game: San Diego at St. Louis (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on San Diego +118 (risk 4 to win 4.7)
We rode the Padres to a 4-unit win yesterday and we'll do so again today. After a 3-9 stretch, San Diego has won four in a row. Meanwhile, St. Louis has dropped five straight. Their offense has been a problem all year and it's killing them now. After yesterday's 3-run output, they have tallied 55 games this year scoring 3 or less! They have scored just 11 total runs in their last five games. Braden Looper has been horrible of late posting a 9.88 ERA in his last three starts. In his last outing Pittsburgh touched him up for seven runs in four innings. On July 21st he gave up 7 runs in 2.7 innings to the Braves. David Wells has been horrible this year but he's 4-1 with a 2.08 lifetime ERA vs. the Cardinals. And the Padres have the offense right now (averaging 6.6 runs per game over their last seven). As bad as St. Louis' offense is overall, it's at its worst vs. LHP like Wells (4.0 runs per game vs. southpaws). Throw in St. Louis' 20-25 mark as a favorite this season, and we have even more reason to fade them. With two cold starters and solid bullpens on both teams, we're left with offense and momentum. San Diego is hot and scoring in droves. St. Louis is cold and offensively inept. And we get the hotter team as an underdog to boot.

This is a great match-up for the Os. Erik Bedard has allowed 2 or fewer runs in 14 of his last 17 starts. That doesn't bode well for a Tampa Bay team that can't hold teams down. The D-Ray...
