Today's Horse Racing Picks:

HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #1 at 7:05 PM Pacific

Top pick: #7 (REALLY UPTOWN) - In top shape at present gelding has won here before and comes into this off the best race of his career. Draws a good post for his stalking style and he's the horse to beat.

2nd pick: #3 (Summers at Del Mar) - Races off a three month layoff and is working very fast for his return. In a dangerous barn (Julio Canani) and if the gelding gets a fast pace he'll be tough down the stretch.

3rd pick: #6 (Legal Separation) - Speedy runner races third off a nine month layoff and showed alot of improvement in his latest. In a good barn (Ed Moger) and he draws a nice post for his speed/stalking style. Contender if he repeats his last effort.

4th pick: #4 (Mark of a Warrior) - Lightly-raced gelding runs second off a Carava claim and runs for only the third time in nine months. Working well and his maiden win came on this surface 11 months ago. Contender.

Top pick: #7 (HARLAN'S TUNE) - He finished second last out Fairplex and will move back to a synthetic surface this evening. Runs third off a five month layoff and draws a good post for his style. The top pick.

2nd pick: #2 (Action in Motion) - Has some early speed and runs second back off a two month break. Well bet in his last pair gelding races a weak field and can make an impact with his best.

3rd pick: #1 (Stella Del Teatro) - Working fast for this, presumaely with the blinkers on that he'll wear tonight. Has the rail and races in a claimer for the first time. Can contend at a good price.

Top pick: #2 (BAD BOY) - Races second off a Canani re-claim. Gelding loves this surface (12-3-1-2) and he finished second last out at Fairplex in his first off the retake. Draws the rail and is 2-1-1-0 at this distance. Faces a weak group and he's the choice for the win.

2nd pick: #8 (Quoted) - Drops into a career soft spot off a wide trip at Fairplex facing tougher. Appears best on synthetics and gelding raced well in his only start on this surface. Win contender.

3rd pick: #6 (Self Insured) - Drops slightly and veteran likes this surface (11-1-4-3) and this distance (5-1-2-1). Has a one-run style and needs a fast pace in front of him for a shot at the win.

4th pick: #1 (Waafi) - Races third off a two month layoff in all three of his wins have come on the local surface. Consistent stretch runner is another who needs a fast pace for a shot at the top spot.

Top pick: #5 (GIVEMEONEREASON) - Longshot has good early speed and believe that she's faced better fields than this along the way. One of her best races came here last fall, and filly has a sharp recent local work. Presence of jockey Espinoza is a plus.

2nd pick: #4 (Teenage Dancer) - Mare is almost six-years-old and is only making her sixth start, so she has some serious issues. Finished third at Del Mar Sept. 5 in a solid effort and if she can repeat it she would be a win threat.

3rd pick: #3 (Finish Rich in NYC) - Lightly-raced filly ran much improved race at Del Mar Sept. 1 and only her second start. Good early speed showed that day and trainer Bob Hess names Marty Garcia, a sign that they like her chances.

4th pick: #6 (Golden Nip) - Raced evenly in her debut at a big price. Her trainer, (Vlad Cerin) is much better second time out (22%) gets a rider upgrade to Rosario and filly can contend with slight improvement.
