Horse Racing Tips - August 31, 2010Del Mar is closed today as they will be heading into their final week tomorrow. We have four races from a night card at Mountaineer Park where their first post is 4:00pm Pacific. Today's Best Bet is #6 Dancing Fighter in Race #3. West Coast Results: Mountaineer Park race #3 Top Pick #4 (Tramezzini) $11.20.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #6 (SULTRY APPROVAL ) - Veteran moves back to the infield after a sharp win here a week ago at this tag on the main-track. His previous two tries here on the grass were solid and he appears to have raced himself back into shape. The top pick in a competitive race. 2nd pick: #5 (El Windo ) - Accustomed to facing tougher he finished an even fifth here July 5 in a first level allowance on the grass and meets a much weaker group this evening. Big win threat. 3rd pick: #9 (Penalty Kick ) - River Downs invader brings good speed/stalking ability and comes her off a pair of good effort facing 3l foes. Faces off today against multiple winners, but the drop in price ($15,000 down to $5K) should have him in this. 4th pick: #1 (Keep the Chief) - Has the inside and he'll be dropping down to the price of his last win. Stretch threat. MOUNTAINEER PARK Race #3 at 4:50 PM Pacific Top pick: #6 (DANCING FIGHTER) - Gelding has the best last race by far and it came in his first ever on the turf. Much improved of late and it all started after a claim by Ollie Figgins Jr. Only needs a "clean" trip to win this. 2nd pick: #9 (Wesh's Texas Star ) - Drops off a pair of even efforts in his last pair and he had some serious traffic issues in both. Capable and he has a win in his past on this surface. The main danger. 3rd pick: #4 (Nobody's Son) - Long-winded type has never raced on the grass, but if he handles the transition he could make a late impact. 4th pick: #8 (Ruler Man) - Had some promise a couple of years ago, but has had his career interrupted several times by long layoff. Has some speed and is bred to handle the turf. Maybe for a minor award. MOUNTAINEER PARK Race #4 at 5:15 PM Pacific Top pick: #1 (MIRACLE CREEK ) - Price play is improving and he draws the rail. Barn makes a rider upgrade and this colt can win this at a nice price from just off the pace. 2nd pick: #4 (Cashmere Thoughts) - Nice effort last out as gelding by "Chapel Royal" made a strong bid while wide before flattening late. Can compete for the win. 3rd pick: #8 (Ledgehill) - Clearly improving he rallied from far back last out to finish second to a long gone winner. Colt is in a good barn (Jeff Radosevich), but he's been away slowly in all three of his starts. Stretch threat again tonight. 4th pick: #10 (Poortown Ruler) - Colt finished a pace-setting second last out at this level and will probably go favored in this contest. Draws a tough outside post and loses rider Jason Lumpkins to another. Threat nontheless. 5th pick: #9 (Omega Me Amigo) - He has some speed but has lost ground in all four of his starts. He'll need to improve a great deal for a shot at the win. MOUNTAINEER PARK Race #8 at 6:55 PM Pacific Top pick: #7 (PASARELA ) - Lightly-raced daughter of "Action This Day' finished a rallying second here last out at this trip and level. Has the best closing kick of these and is the choice for the win if she repeats her latest effort. 2nd pick: #2 (Wynns and Roses) - Races second back off a long layoff and filly chased and tired in her return run eventually checking-in 3 1/2 lengths off the top pick. Working fast for this and she's a serious threat to the top selection. 3rd pick: #3 (She's That Good) - Lightly-raced daughter of "Victory Gallop" tries winners and two-turns, both for the first time. Nice maiden win here last out and she appears to have some talent. Win contender. 4th pick: #5 (I'm Amazing Grace) - Longshot stretches back out after a troubled trip sprinting at this level July 17.
