Horse Racing Handicapper - September 02, 2010It's back to Saratoga today for another four races as we enter the "home stretch" of their 40 day meet. Today's Best Bet is #5 Aptphilly in Race #5. Wednesday's East Coast Results: Delaware Race #1 Top Pick #6 (Sparkling Spirit) $3.00. Saratoga Race #3 Top pick #2 (Flourish) $4.60. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #3 (SUDDEN SILVER ) - Lightly raced, improving, and she has a flexible style. Moves up a condition after a shrp win here August 18. That came in her second back off a layoff and she has more room for upside. The choice at a nice price. 2nd pick: #2 (Zippy Larry ) - Draws a much better post today and she has good speed to bring. Wide last out she should have little trouble securing the rail today. Factors at a nice price. 3rd pick: #5 (Every Little Thing ) - Strong finisher catches a field with a lot of speed types and that should help her late kick out. Stretch threat. 4th pick: #7 (Wall of Worry) - Speedy filly scored here August 6 in her first off a trainer switch to Rudy Rodriquez (so what else is new?). Race was by far her best ever and she could go either way today. SARATOGA Race #4 (THE RISKAVERSE) at 2:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #9 (SNOW TOP MOUNTAIN) - Obvious contender just missed last out in a small stakes here August 7. Lightly raced and very strong finisher can take this no matter what the pace scenario is. Wins this with a late rally. 2nd pick: #5 (Awesome Maria) - Speed has been king on this inner-turf all meet and this long range returnee (11 months) brings plenty of gas to the party. Working well on the turf for her return and she proved a filly of quality last year. Big factor today. 3rd pick: #2 (Sparky's Dream) - Longshot has the rail and exits a solid third-place finish here August 8 in the best race of her career. Has the rail, a nice recent work, and she's a stretch threat at a square price. 4th pick: #4 (Datt Echo) - Longshot goes dirt to turf and stretches out in distance. This race came up light on pace and her speed should have her in this for a long time. SARATOGA Race #5 at 3:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (APTPHILLY) - She raced evenly in her debut and will switch to the turf and stretch out in distance. Her trainer Jimmy Jerkens is one of the best second time out (30%) and adding lasix (31%). The top pick. 2nd pick: #3 (English Ivy) - First-time starter from the "Funny Cide" connections is working icely for her debut with the latest drill (on the turf) especially sharp. Win threat. 3rd pick: #1 (Floating Alone) - Away slowly in her debut she rushed up early and faded late. Has the inside draw as she goes longer and moves to the turf. 4th pick: #9 (Copious Notes ) - Has two races under her belt and she'll go dirt to turf and stretch-out in distance. He barn (Gary Contessa) has had a poor meet but maybe she can salvage something this afternoon. SARATOGA Race #6 at 3:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #7 (MUHAAWARA) - Lightly raced, beautifully-bred, in a winning barn (Kiaran McLaughlin), and she has a tactical edge with her fine early speed. The horse to beat. 2nd pick: #3 (Dyani) - Nice looking maiden win here July 29 and that makes her one of two entered to have won on this course. Improving, and a win threat at a nice price. 3rd pick: #8 (Dance Pass) - Irish-bred daughter of the famous "Sadler's Wells" can "run all day" and has been freshened-up by trainer Chris Clement for the last two months. Competitive in here thre starts earlier this year and a late threat today. 4th pick: #4 (Sweet Tune) - Monmouth shipper is another who could go all day without getting tired. Has no early speed but fits at this level and distance. Exotics factor. ![]() Horse Racing Picks Resources:
