Handicapping The Preakness - October 30, 2007Today we'll give you five races instead of the usual four, and they're from Delaware and Philadelphia Parks. Today's Best Bet is #5 Ashley's Moment in Race #5 at Philadelphia Park.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 5) ASHLEY'S MOMENT - Appears to have this field over a barrel, as she has the best speed by far and has been working up a storm lately at her homebase of Penn National. Last pair at Presque Isle should have her dead-fit for this. (# 4) Mizzenkey - She's much better on turf than dirt, but her experience should have her in the money at the finish. (# 2) Little Joanie - Has several races that indicate that she may be able to fill out the exacta. Grinding style should see her make up some ground late. DELAWARE PARK Race #FOUR (2:05 PM Eastern) (# 1) CASEY'S IRISH PRIDE - Drops down for this after racing at Philly Park for $25,000 in latest. Owns the rail, has speed, and she should be up close in this mainly paceless race on paper. Trainer Tim Ritchey has had just an outstanding year, and goes to one of his main riders, Carlos Marquez. (# 2) Light's Out Angel - Easy win in last when she was streched out off a single sprint, and filly may have a lot more improvement in her, being as lightly raced as she is. Petro operation has had a great year here. (# 3) Hope in my Heart - Claimed four back by Sam Cronk, and she has gradually improved while under his care. Chased "Shelby's Memory" in last, and that filly would crush this group. Her strategy depends on what the top pick decides to do. DELAWARE PARK Race #SIX (3:00 PM Eastern) (# 3) POPHAM BEACH - Short price is assured in this race as this runner looks very much the horse to beat. Good speed shown against better in only race to date at Philly Park. Drops by more than half for the Klesaris barn, and they have been devastating in maiden claimers (44%). You'll have to take your shot at keying him on top with our other selections, and maybe just put him in the second position as a saver if you go that deep. (# 6) Impaired Judgement - Looks like the second best in here as he showed improvement in his last off a layoff. Probable second choice. (# 9) Bald Island - These last three are all equal in my opinion, and should be used in tris, and supers with the top selection. (# 10) Denmar - Tied for third place with No. 8 and No. 9. (# 8) Salute the Moon - Again, he is the equal of the No. 9 and No. 10. Use in equal parts with the top pick in tris and supers. PHILADELPHIA PARK Race #EIGHT (3:30 PM Eastern) (# 7) CRUSADER RABITT - Logical selection and probable favorite. Has the best races of the entrants, and can stalk and pounce. Has had the benefit of many inside draws, so he'll need to work out a trip even in this smallish field from the outside post (# 1) Cat Criminal - Is gradually being raced into winning shape by top trainer Steve Klesaris. He's been in some tough fields at Delaware, and he may be approaching his beat. (# 3) My Three Boys - Poor start and traffic trouble have plagued him in last pair. Has the best speed if he breaks cleanly, and could be gone if unchallenged. (# 6) Call You Raise You - Has the race's strongest closing kick. There is a tricky pace situation that exists here, and I believe that it will be slower than normal in here which would hurt his chances. Still is dangerous. DELAWARE PARK Race #EIGHT (3:50 PM Eastern) (# 3) ROUGH WATER - Tony Dutrow trained runner has been getting better with each start. Chased at this distance in most recent, and continued gamely all the way to the wire to finish second to a good-looking winner (Populist). Repeat of that effort puts her on the wire here. (# 4) Philadelphia Moon - From the top barn of Mike Trombetta, she is improving with racing. Sharp tries in last pair, both at a distance over this track. Nice drill on Oct. 17, and she'll be a handful. (# 1) Love Nonie - Draws a nice post and her most recent was her best yet, finishing right behind our second choice. Have always liked his sire (Souvenir Copy), and his sons and daughters improve with experience. (# 5) Holy Grace - Daughter of "Holy Bull" ran well in debut to a pair of runners that were better.
