Horse Racing Tip - October 29, 2008Aqueduct opens it's long fall/winter meet today with the prospects for an "off" track a strong possibility. Post Time is 12:30 (EST). The surface is traditionally speed-favoring and whenever you play there, keep that thought in mind. Today we'll have three from the Big "A", a one from Churchill Downs which opened it's fall meet last Sunday. Today's Best Bet is #10 Grantor in race #4 at Aqueduct. Tuesday's Results: Delaware Park Race # 1 = Top Pick # 1 (Garp) Pd $3.60 Delaware Park Race # 3 = Exacta (4-8) Pd. $10.20 Trifecta ( 4-8-6) Pd. $24.20 Philadelphia Park Race # 6 = Top Pick # 2 (Lion By My Side) Pd. $5.00 Exacta ( 2-4) Pd. $13.00  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #7 (GLENLEARY) - Steve Asmussen reached in two starts back and claimed this veteran runner. Raced well in his first for "America's" leading trainer, and runner is nicely spotted here to pick up a win. 2nd pick: #1 (Ravencliff ) - Likes the local surface and this distance. He draws the coveted rail and runs as part of an entry with "Austinagin". 3rd pick: #4 (House of Usher) - He's hit the board in 10 of his last 11, mostly against competition on a par with today's runners. See no reason why he won't run another good one. 4th pick: #9 (Chop Spats) - Cuts-back in distance and moves from the Keeneland "poly" surface to the Churchill dirt. Late runner needs a fine-timed move. AQUEDUCT Race #4 at 1:50 PM Eastern Top pick: #10 (GRANTOR) - Assumed that this race would be switched off the grass, so the selections are for the dirt. Colt ran well last out in his first race ever on the main track and finished a close-up 3rd. He's worked well since and is the choice for the win. 2nd pick: #16 (Brother of Gold) - Don't let this post scare you, as it's a distinct advantage at this long one-turn mile. Colt drops into a claimer for the first time and he'll be coming off a much improved effort 2nd out. Dangerous foe. 3rd pick: #8 (Nolite Timere) - Has enough finishing punch to hit the exotics. He's finished close-up in 2 of 4 on wet-tracks and his experience should allow him to pass some of the ones who'll be fading late. 4th pick: #14 (I'll Make it Up) - Gets blinkers on for this stretch-out attempt. Has some positional speed, but he's been finishing evenly in most of his races. Equipment change should have him more involved early. AQUEDUCT Race #5 at 2:15 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (SWEET AYA) - Drops back into a claimer after tiring in her latest at the maiden-special level. Claimed two back by the Schosberg barn, they run her today for $10,000 less than they bought her for. 2nd pick: #9 (Dove Nest) - Speedy filly has run in 3 straight races on the turf at the maiden-special level. Drops back in for a tag and moves to the dirt for trainer Greg DiPrima. 3rd pick: #7 (Talented Treasure) - Five-year-old has several efforts that if repeatable, would put her in the mix. Doesn't have any room for upside, but this field is poor and she may grind out a placing. 4th pick: #3 (Tiz the Moon) - Nice effort last out in her first race in almost 7 months. Started from a poor post (10), raced mid-pack while wide, and finished evenly. Should move forward today. AQUEDUCT Race #9 at 4:10 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (Stand Pat) - He's proven to be a steady and reliable runner in his starts against slightly tougher. Mid-pack runner should receive a fast pace to rally into. The choice for the win. 2nd pick: #1 (Friday Meeting) - Speedy gelding draws the rail which is usually a nice place to be on this surface. He's shown speed in his last pair running for 15K, and will drop today for $10,000. Speed threat. 3rd pick: #10 (Tomlinson Hill) - Ran a big 2nd last out at Belmont when dropped to 15K. Fits well here and draws a nice post to stalk from. Johnny V'z presence is noted. 4th pick: #4 (Artytheonemanparty) - Takes a big plunge off a 6 week freshening for the Rick Violette barn.
