Trifecta (3-7-5) Paid $27.80. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 5) JEDOUM - Just broke his maiden in start number nine. Did so in handy fashion, and in previous race ran second to a good looking winner in "Ticket Home." May be getting it all together right now. (# 1) Two Punch Jones - Probable heavy favorite has speed, the rail and has competed against better. Negative trainer switch off the recent claim going from Ritchey to Allen. The negative factor is a small one. Tough with a repeat of any of his recent runs. (# 3) Mark This Date - For use in tris in the underneath position. (# 4) Fisherman's Duke - The same for this runner - underneath in the tris. DELAWARE PARK Race #FOUR (2:05 PM Eastern) (# 2) MAZUKAMBA - The top two selections in here are coming out of the same race on Sept. 2. They have been on the shelf since, and both are in the hands of top trainers, Steve Klesaris and Larry Jones. Think that this filly will come back the better one. (# 1) Dixie Damsel - May prove tough to catch as she has exibited some high speed against several who can really motor. (# 5) Pisane Hills - The best last race on view, and today goes third off a layoff. Ability to stalk and pass other runners is a big plus. (# 3) Apron Dancer - Firster trained by Tim Ritchey has several better-than-average drills on view. Trainer is fair with debut runners (13%), and is having a great year overall. PHILADELPHIA PARK Race #SEVEN (3:05 PM Eastern) (# 1) WHISPERED WARNING - Speed closest to the rail and would assume that he'll be sent right to the top. Returns to the main track where all three of his wins in 2007 have come. He's 10-for-26 on the dirt, and they'll have to come catch him. (# 7) Stormin West - Claimed out of latest by Bruce Alexander, and new trainer is 19% first off the buy. Nice stalking gear, and has gotten good lately. (# 8) Keller's Church Rd. - Goes second off a layoff and second off the DeMasi claim in July. Put together some races in late winter that are better than these. Can run, and may improve off that return race. (# 6) Royal Quartorze - Comes to the "big time" after easy wins at Charles Town and Penn National. Last was impressive, and he may be at his racing peak right now. PHILADELPHIA PARK Race #TEN (4:25 PM Eastern) (# 5) VIENNA HILLS - Drops and switches surfaces for trainer Cathal Lynch. No speed to speak of, but the latest on the grass indicates a bit of a wake-up call, as he was more involved early. Drew some tough outside posts against better at Monmouth. Should be square odds. (# 3) Derby - Probable favorite and rightly so. Goes third off a 14-month layoff, and improve dramatically in race two off the shelf. Repeat makes him tough. My Suggestion would be to "key" the top two selections in the first position and go from there. (# 10 ) Be A General - Makes his first lifetime start at Philadelphia Park and draws a very rough post. Has some speed from the gate, so maybe he can get some position early and rate a bit. (#'s 1 and 9) Viracocha and Heisasheis - Would use this pair in the underneath position of tris and supers.
