Set a very fast, contested pace in debut at Saratoga from the rail, rated well and bid in last, only to be outkicked late. Continues good AM work over the Spa. training track. (# 1) Muska - Blinkers come off and Lasix is added for start number two. Also goes from turf to dirt for trainer Bill Mott. Overall a very good initial run for this $1,600,000 yearling purchase. Almost put this one on top. (# 2) Raw Silk - Both blinkers and Lasix are added by trainer Tom Albertrani. Heavily backed in only race at Saratoga, she had a tough post (10) and got out a bit around the turn. (# 8) Receipt - Decent run over this surface at 6.5 furlongs in last. Barn's(McGaughey) stock usually improve with racing and distance. BELMONT PARK Race #SIX (3:30 PM Eastern) (# 8) WISCONSIN GIRL - Stretches out for trainer Nick Zito after a troubled initial start here sprinting on Sept. 16. Trainer does well with second timers and also distance increases. Working sharply since the debut run, and he's given her a month between the starts. (# 1) False Pretense - Tried turf in latest and tired chasing a very fast pace while wide the whole race. Poor start in prior start at Saratoga. With a clean break she may stay in front a long way in this one. (# 2) Liza Lu - Good try in a two-turn mile at Delaware in latest. Failed as the heavy favorite that day, but that race should have her fit for this one-turn mile. (# 7) Vaulcluse - Huge drill on view over this surface on Sept. 26th, a 4F bullet. Daughter of A.P.Indy resides in a fine barn in Tom Albertrani, and attracts Eddie Castro, who's destined to do well here. SANTA ANITA Race #FOUR (5:30 PM Eastern) (# 1) JUPITER'S STONE - Freshened up for almost two months by trainer Ron McAnally, this colt has run well in the majority of his grass races. Working well for the return, he draws a fine ground-saving post from which to launch a late rally. (# 8) Palladian General - Probable favorite, ran very well in his only turf race at Del Mar in August. Freshened up since, he is working extremely well for the return run. Very dangerous opponent. Would be surprised if neither of the top two selections wins this. (# 6) Royal Vision - As a son of "Unusual Heat" he should turf well, and in fact his only grass race in three starts was his best effort. Positive jockey switch to Nakatani is duly noted. (# 5) Da Benchy - Stretches out off a sprint, and also switches surfaces for this. Took some money in initial pair of races before going to the sidelines. Should be a square price. SANTA ANITA Race #EIGHT (7:35 PM Eastern) (# 13) OUR PAPA JOE - Has had more than a month off since a failed try on the Bay Meadows turf. Ran well in several sprints at Hollywood and Del Mar, and he is working very sharply for this return run. Draws well for the distance and may pull off the upset. (# 9) Hasty Texan - The horse to beat as Nakatani takes the reins for sharp trainer Peter Eurton. Jockey is two-for-five for the trainer. Well-bet in all starts for a sure sign that ability is present. Goes third off a layoff and cuts back in distance. Many positive signs. (# 3) Lutyens - Logical selection is six-years-old without winning yet. Fits, and should run well, but short price is hard to take on this type of runner. (#'s 11 and 14) Capi and Max and Cherokee Law - For use with the top two selections in small exacta boxes. Wide open beyond the #3 horse, and as mentioned above, he can be beat.
