Today's Horse Racing Picks:

BELMONT PARK Race #4 at 2:30 PM Eastern

Top pick: #7 (COOL TALES) - Shortens up a furlong and gets blinkers on for trainer Jimmy Jerkens. Nice post to use his speed from at this distance, and he's a legitimate wire-to-wire threat.

2nd pick: #4 (Charging Hero) - Makes his first start for trainer Greg DiPrima after a claim in mid-August at Saratoga. Freshening is a strong point for the trainer (24%) and his last two works are way above average.

3rd pick: #3 (Masterwork) - Comes back quickly after breaking his maiden just three days ago at this distance. Trainer (Richard Dutrow) has pulled this off in the past and colt must be considered.

Top pick: #8 (UP FOR LOVE) - Fine debut saw colt by "More Than Ready" rally from far back to finish second beaten less than a length. Shortens up a furlong for trainer Todd Pltecher, who is a fine 21% second time out.

2nd pick: #10 (Benton Drive) - Troubled run in his debut and a wide trip in his second start. Shortens up a furlong and draws a nice post for this distance. Beaten about two lengths by the top pick last out. Win contender.

3rd pick: #11 (Triste Doble Q) - Raced between horses almost the entire race last out before tiring in the stretch. Previous run was fine and he'll be a good price today.

4th pick: #3 (Routine Addendum) - Coa takes the reride, and it's of some significance, as one of his main patrons (Barclay Tagg) has a runner entered that he's ridden before. This gelding raced evenly despite some trouble in his Saratoga debut. Look for improvement today.

Top pick: #6 (HAJA BOY) - Well bet in his last pair, he showed good speed before tiring. Wide posts in those two starts, one at Del Mar and the other at Fairplex hurt his chances. Runs well today at a square price.

2nd pick: #5 (Atticus Jack) - Working "lights out" for one of the best in the business, Doug O'Neill. Gelded son of "Atticus" has displayed ample speed in his works and will probably go favored here. Dangerous foe.

3rd pick: #2 (Gifted Student) - Firster by "Mud Route" has several excellent looking works and this field came up pretty weak. Negative is trainer Eddie Truman being 0 for his last 22 with debut runners.

4th pick: #9 (Just For Us) - Raced evenly early last out at this tag before tiring late. Working well since that start, trainer Rafael Becerra takes the blinkers off today.

Top pick: #7 (LOGIC WAY) - Appeared the combination of facing "better" stock and a soft turf course conspired to do him in last out. Level, distance, and post are all fine today. Prado, who had "other" options, winds up here. A firm course may be all he needs.

2nd pick: #8 (Big Jerome) - Very impressive win last out in a starter allowance at this distance. Tracked from close range, bid turning for home and drew clear late. Veteran likes this course (4-3-1-0), but Prado abandons for the top pick. Win contender nontheless.

3rd pick: #1 (Baletti) - Had good position last out but could not muster a late rally. He's improve significantly since a trainer switch to Angel Penn Jr. and he's a player here.

4th pick: #3 (Sleuse) - Think they'll put him right on the lead today in his grass debut and lightly raced runner could be in front a long way at a square price. Not often you get the Pletcher/Velazquez team at 5-1 or better.
