Horse Racing Handicappers - October 07, 2008Today we are back at Delaware and Philadelphia Park for four races. Today's Best Bet: Horse #3 PENITENT MAN (Race 3 Delaware Park). Monday's Results: Philadelphia Park Race #1 Best Bet #2 (My Pal Happy) $5.40.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #3 (SMITTEN CITY) - Very game second in last cutting back to this mile distance. Appears the one to catch from a good inside post. In light with good bug. Trainer has done very well this meet. 2nd pick: #10 (Patter) - Back on dirt and a cut back in distance is what he wants. This trainer very strong going grass to dirt. Tactical speed to overcome outside post. 3rd pick: #8 (J.T's Bad Boy) - Steps up in class and stretches out to a mile, a distance he is well bred to handle. Will be up close to the pace from the start. DELAWARE Race #3 at 1:40 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (PENITENT MAN) - Makes first start for Hopper who is excellent off the claim, especially for owner Mike Gill. Claimed in very sharp form. Tactical speed to sit a good trip. Bug boy off, top rider Saez aboard, who wins many races for this barn. 2nd pick: #6 (K C Shuffle) - Steps up in class after a sharp win over the track. Main concern for me as the 2-1 ML favorite, is that after that win, he has not worked in 34 days. From a top trainer. 3rd pick: #7 (Italiano) - Gets a huge trainer change to Hopper. Freshened up by a trainer who can have them ready off a layoff. PHILADELPHIA Race #5 at 2:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #2 (GEEFOUR) - Returns for a very strong trainer. Dangerous speed dropping down into a claimer. Shuman very good with returnees off the drop. Will be on or near the lead from the start. 2nd pick: #4 (Private Blues) - Steps up in class after two very strong front-running wins. Trainer Houghton having a very strong meet with limited stock. Likes this course. 3rd pick: #10 (Souk) - Freshened up, making first start for very good barn. Stretches out in distance, where his tactical speed will place him in perfect striking position early. DELAWARE Race #8 at 3:55 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (SHE'S MY FORTUNE) - Faces winners for the first time after a strong maiden win in debut. Red hot trainer Dutrow is very strong at winning right back with recent graduates. 2nd pick: #5 (Conga Gold) - Makes first start for solid connections after a sharp win in career debut. Was well bet that day. Second finisher came back to score. 3rd pick: #4 (Regal Jo) - Shows steady improvement in both career starts. Has fine tactical speed. Has really taken to this track.
