Preankess Pick - October 06, 2007Today we have selections and analysis on four races from Belmont Park and Santa Anita. Today's Best Bet is #3 Treasure Mountain in Race # 2 at Belmont Park. Friday's Results: Belmont Race #1 Scratched out of selections.Belmont Race #2 Exacta (8-4) $21.60. Trifecta Top 3 box (8-4-2) Paid $60.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 9) GONE PROSPECTING - Appears well set up and well spotted by trainer Carlos Martin for this stretch out in distance to a mile. Good placings in last three, all at this claiming price and condition. Comes back very quickly off his last race (7 days)and Martin use to live by this type move. (# 8) Pouf Positive - Nice conditioning run at the Spa. in his return from a three-month layoff. Turfed against tougher, and with a bad post(12), it has all the looks of a needed prep. Drops and moves back to dirt and distance of his maiden breaker. Very tough on the nice setup by trainer Levine. (# 2) Put Back the Gold - Likes this particular distance(6-1-3-0)and appears to fit this claiming price. Mid-pack style and post should have him saving ground as they enter the turn. Needs to find a bit more late. (# 3) Sunny Boy'N Ben E - Has become a better animal this season after trainer Barbara removed the blinkers after a two race experiment to start the year. Another who runs from the middle to the front of the pack, he too fits the race. BELMONT PARK Race #TWO (1:30 PM Eastern) (# 3) TREASURE MOUNTAIN - May be the quickest of the group out of the gate and that could translate into a victory. Last was a very positive effort as he showed his best speed in five starts. Pair of sharp works at his home base of Philly Park, so he appears to be feeling well. (# 7) Stormy Success - Cuts back in distance, and switches surfaces going from three straight turf races back to the dirt. Should be as fit as can be, and I think he'll run a big race. (# 4) Biohazzard - Has traded decisions with the top pick, and brings an up-close style to the fray. Don't know if he can do any better, but if things break right he could win. (#'s 2 and 5 Smart Thinker and Arrrrr - Would use this pair on the bottoms of tris, and exactas. SANTA ANITA Race #TWO (4:00 PM Eastern) (# 1) SEVEN NATION ARMY - Consistent as they come and he likes the distance and at this stage the claiming price is right. Post and the new surface her are in question, but this is not a strong field, and has several with big question marks. Should get the job done. (# 6) Patriotic Flame - As with most claims by Frank Monteleone he has improved this runner. Classier competitor at one time, he brings a close-up style which is the way to success on this surface so far. (# 7) Kingdom Come - Cuts back in distance after a trio of return starts, and trainer Jorge Periban adds blinkers today, a 19% move by the conditioner. (# 9) Kaianagandaia - Latest at Del Mar was his best since coming from Brazil in early 2006. Not quick enough to clear, so an outside stalking journey would seem the way to go. BELMONT PARK Race #TEN (5:30 PM Eastern) (# 2) BACK TO MANDALAY - All of colt's grass races are good. Ran very well from an outside post in last at Saratoga. Very strong finisher, would like some pace to run at, and the horse to his inside should provide a good target. (# 7) One Good Man - Ran very well in first-time blinkers last start. Was up near the top, bid several times, but could not get by the speed horse who ran second. Good post and should revert to his 3-5 lengths off stalking style. (# 1) Highly Spoken - Clearly the speed of this party, and the horse the second pick couldn't get by in last. Has the hedge and if he can repeat his latest, he would be very tough. (#'s 4 and 6) Calagaitor and Stately Pegasus - Would use this pair of deep closers in the underneath positions of any exotic bets you make. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
