Horse Racing Tip Sheets - October 01, 2007Today, with Belmont Park dark, we have selections and analysis on four races from Delaware Park and Calder Race Course. Today's Best Bet is #6 Africa Mia in Race #4 at Calder Race Course. Sunday's Results: Race #5 at Calder was a no wager for us as it was off the turf. The top pick won anyway, but had it for grass only. Calder Race #2 Exacta 3rd pick with Top Pick (6-8) Paid $55. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 3) LIGHTS ON ANGEL - Being sent long today off a sprint prep by trainer Michael Petro. That maneuver is a 26% for the barn. Filly broke her maiden last season here at two, and has faced tougher in a light race schedule since. Good shot given the extra ground. (# 1) Music is My Life - Good maiden win two back from just off the pace. Broke a bit slowly from the rail in first try against winners. Beaten by the third pick three back. She has improved since then. (# 4) Secret Frolic - Good efforts in last pair including her last in first start against winners. Has a good early gear and can set the pace or lay just off the lead. Last three races have been her best, and all over a distance of ground. DELAWARE PARK Race #FOUR (2:05 PM Eastern) (# 3) NO EXPOSURE - Almost all in here are trying a distance for the first time. Filly has a hint of speed, and trainer Capuano is 39% on the stretch out move. Wire-to-wire threat. (# 6) Go For Mo - Trainer Randy Nunley and jockey Ramon Dominguez have combined for four wins over the past two weeks. This filly adds Lasix today for the distance increase (# 4) Maria's Victory - Most experienced of these and she's already run a distance. Switches from grass to dirt and drops in class. Has already run for tags, so there's no real advantage on that angle. (# 5) Young Queen - Trainer Velasquez has a good record with maidens and is 16% on the stretch-out move. Filly is improving a bit with each start, and may do well here. CALDER RACE COURSE Race #FOUR (2:05 PM Eastern) (# 6) AFRICA MIA - Drops into a claimer for the first time and also switches surfaces. Good speed in all since the return from five-month freshening. Wins on the drop. (# 1) Close the Deal - Good efforts since the return and off the claim by Terry Oliver. Has speed and a good post. May need to rate, as the top pick may be faster. ( # 5) Swannanoa - Poor start in second off the layoff situation by the O'Connell barn. Race before on the grass was good, and it set her up well for last, but the bad start gave her no shot. (# 8) Premio Maxima - Nice series of works on view for the Stutts barn. Hasn't run since falling in only start at two last season. If she's a ready filly will impact these. CALDER RACE COURSE Race #NINE (4:30 PM Eastern) (# 5) NORTHBOUND EXPRESS - Came back an improved runner off three-month layoff. Dropped in class on the return, she has run second in all three of her races at this distance and level. Same conditions today and she's the horse to beat. (# 8) Dance Ruckus - Has been defeated by the top pick three straight times, the last by only a head. Draws well and has some tactical speed. Has a shot if someone runs with the top selection early. (# 6) Classie Henessey - Drops for the Plesa barn off a single troubled start against better. Well bet that day, trainer also adds blinkers for this. Surprise package. (# 2) Palm Bay - Well behind the top pair in last, and this filly may be able to complete the super and/or tri. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
