Us Horse Racing Picks - November 27, 2008HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Our Turkey Day menu will feature a total of five races, three from the Fair Grounds and a pair from Hollywood Park. Aqueduct has a very early start today 11:30 EST, so we'll concentrate on our other two standbys. Today's Best Bet is #1 Garifine in Race #8 at the Fair Grounds. Wednesday's Results: Aqueduct Race #8 Ex. (4-6) $27.60. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #2 (WINNINGDANCER) - Filly will stretch-out today in her third start back off a three-month freshening. Improvement is noted in her latest and she has fine tactical speed to use. Trainer (Eric Kruljac) has good stats (18%) on the distance increase. 2nd pick: #5 (Moto Nui) - Drops into a claimer for the first time and moves back to "cushion track" after showing good speed in her last pair going long on the grass. Should be involved from start-to-finish. 3rd pick: #8 (Crazy Tricia) - Good effort last out in her first attempt at a distance. Filly stayed close-up, bid on the far-turn, and tired in the last 1/16th. Big player. 4th pick: #4 (Octoberfest) - Rallied late at this tag and distance on October 30, to finish a close-up fourth. She's worked well since and she's this field's most experienced runner. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #4 at 3:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (CATENIA PLACE) - Daughter of "Atticus" raced evenly in her debut against slightly tougher. Good barn (Doug O'Neill) brings her back quickly (15 days) for start number two. Slight improvement is all it will take to put her on the wire here. 2nd pick: #3 (Pokermom) - Raced wide in her debut from a tough post(12) for a first time starter. She held her position throughout and she should improve today with a much better draw. 3rd pick: #10 (Siberian Tango) - Decent debut race on November 13, for an underrated trainer (Jorge Periban). Filly stayed close early and only tired in the last 1/16th. Another who returns quickly today (14 days). 4th pick: #4 (Sugaree Gold) - She's flashed speed in all four of her starts, including several against tougher. Daughter of "Congaree" is coming off a six-week freshening and has a pair of sharp works heading into this. FAIR GROUNDS Race #7 at 4:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (GAIL GOLDEN) - Sharp maiden win last out and trainer Lary Robideaux has given her two months off since. Nicely spotted today for her return to action, and if she brings her back form, she should win this. 2nd pick: #9 (Leroy's Money) - Nice return race last out saw her finish a fine third in her first start in almost three months. Stalker should be much sharper today in her second off the rest. 3rd pick: #11 (Precious Polly) - Filly has both speed and stalking ability. Tough post will probably put her in a tracking mode. Has ability to compete here with a patient ride. 4th pick: #1 (Jet To Seattle) - Filly drops down and draws the rail. Has some positional speed and she worked well on this surface last Saturday in preparation for this attempt. FAIR GROUNDS Race #8 at 4:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (GARIFINE) - Colt displayed some big ability in 2007 before an injury forced him to the sidelines for a bit more than a year. Son of "Belong To Me" returned in the fall at Keeneland and finished third in his return run after setting a very fast pace. He's been given almost seven weeks off since that run and is working "bullets" for his second start back. Ready to roll. 2nd pick: #7 (Five Foot Mike) - Lightly-raced colt broke his maiden last out in his first start on the grass. Field wasn't much, but he's talented with lots of room for more upside. Gets a class test today. 3rd pick: #12 (Wild Side) - Excellent trainer (Mike Stidham) has this runner working well and primed for a big effort. Sharp in his only previous grass run, he draws a nice post for his stalking style. 4th pick: #2 (Lemon Drop Magic) - In-shape runner will be cutting back from a longer race for this sprint. He's raced well at shorter distances in the past and could impact this at a square price. Special Race Notes: Selections if race is switched to the dirt: #1-Garifine #14-Early Return #2-Lemon Drop Magic #12-Wild Side FAIR GROUNDS Race #9 at 5:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (TRUELYONBROADWAY) - Runner likes this course as he proved last season with a pair of impressive wins. Returned recently from a layoff with a much needed race at Mountaineer. Ready for his best second off the rest. 2nd pick: #2 (Roi Maudit) - Veteran sprinter has picked up his game this season, winning a stakes at the Meadowlands and finishing third to Kodiak Kowboy last out. Should receive a solid pace to rally into. 3rd pick: #6 (Devereux) - Freshened up by trainer Steve Asmussen after having a solid summer. Ran poorly last out in the Philly Park mud, so the rest may have been a needed one. Working solidly for his return, and if ready he is a major player. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
