Horse Racing Systems - November 25, 2009A reminder that we will be publishing a newsletter tomorrow on the Thanksgiving Holiday. Several of the major tracks are operating, including (Aqueduct with a 11:30 am EDT post) along with the Fair Grounds, Churchill Downs and Hollywood Park. Today's pre-turkey day menu has two races from Aqueduct and one apiece from Churchill and Hollywood. Today's Best Bet is #3 Dixie Pixie in Race #2 at Churchill Downs. Tuesday's Results: Meadowlands Race #6 Tri Box of the three picks (2-7-1) $126.20. Turf Paradise Race #7 Top Pick #1 (Rogue River) $3.80.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #2 (PARC DES PRINCESS) - Lightly raced this season, Brazilian-bred has run strong in both starts since coming back from almost a three-month layoff and dropping into claimers. Has good positional speed, runs third off the layoff and Dominguez climbs aboard. The top selection. 2nd pick: #4 (Big Al) - Consistent runner drops into a straight-claimer again, and the last two times he raced for a tag he finished second in both, beaten a "nose" each time. Speed/stalker is properly spotted and is a strong win candidate. 3rd pick: #9 (Propensity) - Brings good positional speed to the race, so the outside post shouldn't hurt his chances. Not as accomplished as the top two selections, he still could be a factor from start-to-finish and reach the exotics. 4th pick: #5 (William T) - He's only started three times this year and has finished second twice and third in the other. That trio came at and around this tag and he had traffic issues in each one of them. Races today off a three-month break for "Chip" Dutrow (a 23% winning angle). Exotics factor. 5th pick: #3 (Admiral Bird) - He finished second last out going seven furlongs at Belmont, his best race in several months. Rarely puts good starts together, but could get a minor award here if he repeats his last effort. CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #2 at 1:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (DIXIE PIXIE) - Daughter of "Dixie Union" was claimed last out at Keeneland by trainer Brad Cox for the same price she runs at today ($15,000). Filly makes her first start on conventional dirt since her debut last January at Gulfstream where she showed excellent speed facing $80K maidens. New trainer adds blinkers and his main rider Jon Court climbs aboard. Lots of things to like. 2nd pick: #1 (Far Traveler) - Excellent speed shown in her debut, which came at this price, on this surface. Daughter of "Forest Camp" held well to finish third and draws the shortest way home today. Her veteran trainer (Charles Dickey) is having a very poor year. Contender nontheless. 3rd pick: #7 (Eskippakithiki) - "Lukewarm" at the widows in her debut, she had problems at the start and raced evenly once in stride. She drops a claiming level and gets a 7lb. apprentice this afternoon. Filly will probably be sent hard from the get-go. 4th pick: #6 (Emily D.) - Not a win candidate, but she's finished second or third in 14 of her 29 starts and may get a small slice here which could land her in the tri and/or super. AQUEDUCT Race #4 at 1:50 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (BIG CITY WOMAN) - Daughter of "Thunderello" raced evenly in her debut November 1 facing maiden-special weight competition. Takes a big drop this afternoon, gets both blinkers and Dominguez, and she draws the rail. The top selection. 2nd pick: #1 (Properly Introduced) - The likely favorite also drops into a claimer for the first time and has shown good speed in several of her starts. Goes turf to dirt and has a nice work on the Nov. 21. She's a win threat. Filly is coupled in the wagering with "Pronto Pronto". 3rd pick: #1a (Pronto Pronto) - Another dropper she goes turf to dirt and shortens-up in distance. Daughter of "Fusaichi Pegasus" should offer whatever she has today. 4th pick: #9 (Rousing Kitty) - She has some speed but has already failed twice at this tag. Has some speed and with the rider switch to Chavez she'll probably be sent hard. Possible exotics factor at a nice price. 5th pick: #2b (Bella Karakorum) - Part on an entry and she's shown some improvement since coming back from a six-week break and getting the addition of both blinkers and lasix. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #1 at 3:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (The Town Lady) - One of a pair of fillies from the barn of Barry Abrahams and they'll race uncoupled. Daughter of premier turf sire "Unusual Heat" raced evenly here at this level on November 4, her first effort around two-turns. Blinkers go on and it's Talamo on and Quinonez off. Can win this at a square price. 2nd pick: #7 (Princess Suances) - Filly took some money in her debut at Del Mar and raced a bit "rank" and finished last of seven. Away 70 days she just missed in a sprint at Santa Anita on October 16 in a very good effort. Barn sends her over a route of ground and to the turf. Win candidate. 3rd pick: #6 (Makeit Till Midnite) - Under-rated barn (Tim Yakteen) sends this filly to the grass for the first time and also has her going two-turns. She raced evenly in a sprint at Santa Anita on October 16 finishing five lengths behind "Princess", her first race in seven weeks. Contender with "old man" Danny Sorensen aboard. 4th pick: #2 (Unknown Heat.) - The second of the Abram's runners has good positional speed in a race where many are "laggards." Filly should secure the hedge and take them as far as she can.
