Horse Racing Handicapping - November 24, 2007Today all five of our selections and analysis are from Aqueduct. We turned in another solid day of results yesterday, hitting the exacta (5-6) for $148.50 at Aqueduct's second race. We also hit the tri (3-1-6) good for $110.20 from Fair Ground's third race. Please see full results below. A Reminder that tomorrow is the last day of racing on the main track at the Big A. They will move to the inner, dirt surface this coming Wednesday and continue on it through mid-March. Today's Best Bet is #1 Raffie's Deer in Race #4 at Aqueduct. Friday's Results: Aqueduct Race #2 Top Pick Winner #5 (Alexandros) Paid $10.40. Exacta (5-6) Paid $148.50. Fair Grounds Race #3 Exacta 2nd Pickk with Best Bet (3-1) Paid $24.40. Trifecta (3-1-6) Paid $110.20. Fair Grounds Race #4 Top Pick Winner #1 (Stew's Stone) Paid $6.40.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 3) ON WITH IT - Ran at Keeneland in early Oct. against open foes. Did so from the disadvantageous rail that day. Working fast since arriving in New York and coming to the Linda Rice barn. Good shot at the maiden win. (# 6) Cash for Gold - Ships down from Finger Lakes for trainer Jeremiah Englehart. Has worked well there all season and makes a late debut run. Coa's presence is duly noted. (# 1) Dixieland Star - Good effort in debut at Belmont. Trainer Kimmel is very good with his second-time starters(24%). Colt continues to work well. (# 2) Wise Mountain - No chance in last from a poor post (11) in his first race against New York breds. Good effort in bow at Presque Isle facing open foes. Barn (Shuman) is more than capable. AQUEDUCT Race #THREE (1:20 PM Eastern) (# 5) VACATION - Last out ran second in the slop at this track, condition, and distance. Trainer's (McGaughey) stock almost always do better with distance increases. Son of "Dynaformer" has performed well in all starts. (# 9) Mr. Shortcake - Has speed and is coming off a seven-week rest for the Pletcher barn. Draws a good post for the "flat" mile run. Has been in some tough heats to this point. Close-up threat. (#' 1 and 1a) Clever Kevin and Pure Devil - We'll accept either one of these (or preferably both) runners as our third selection. "Kevin" makes second lifetime start, has been working well and gets Lasix today. "Devil" was scratched out of a start the other day to await this spot. (# 4) Big Stick - McLaughlin trainee has been freshened up since early October. Has had seven weeks since the last race and is working steadily for this start. Blinkers go on today, a 25% move for the trainer. AQUEDUCT Race #FOUR (1:50 PM Eastern) (# 1) RAFFIE'S DEER - Is a better horse since coming to the Jimmy Toner barn. Has encountered traffic in several races, or he may have won by now. Good post, has positional speed and a very fast work. (# 2) Lyke a Hurricane - Switches trainers from Levine to Duggan and tries the dirt for the initial time. Lasix, blinkers, and Coa are all new today. (# 10) Lee Stewart - Makes his second lifetime run. Resides in a good barn (Jimmy Jerkens) and is training forwardly. Lasix is applied today for the first time. (# 11) Front Money - Ran his best race to date in last, but it was on the grass. Needs to find some more finishing kick. (# 12) Biohazzard - Competitive in all without getting the job done. Blinkers go on today to try to help him get the win. Poor post is of no help. Must avoid a wide trip. AQUEDUCT Race #FIVE (2:20 PM Eastern) (# 1) SHOPTON LANE - Very sharp colt has become a much better one since coming to the Bruce Levine barn. Has speed, draws the best post, and continues to train well. He's undefeated (3-for-3) around two turns. Posts a mild upset today. (# 2) Buffalo Man - Talented colt ran a sharp race in his return to action over this surface. Tries two turns again today and won impressively at the Meadowlands last season doing it in the Storm Cat stakes. Dangerous opponent. (# 4) Notice Me Now - Goes back to the grass after trying a turf stake in New York unveiling. Numbers are a bit light, but he should sit a good trip just off the lead. Shot at a big price. (# 3) Helsinki - Has been in with some tough company along the way this year. Has picked up some minor awards in several important races. Needs to kick in better late. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:15 PM Eastern) (# 2) PREMIER PERFECTION - Lightly raced and possesses speed - a comodity lacking here. Has the hedge, is training forwardly, and is in the Pletcher barn. Serious threat from on or just off the top. (# 5) Munition - Barn (Jacobson) has been on a roll since this meet opened. Gelding is used to running longer distances, but that is balanced by the tough open competition he has been facing. This is his first try against fellow state-breds. (# 7) Dr. D.F.C. - Broke his maiden last in his best performance to date. Needs some pace help, as he tends to drop out of it early on. (# 6) Beneath the Crown - Tries two-turns for the first time since breaking his maiden at Tampa Bay last January. Good series of turf sprints should have him sharp for the distance increase.
