Horse Racing Selections - November 21, 2007Today we'll concentrate on Aqueduct, with selections and analysis on four races from that Long Island track. A reminder that on Thanksgiving, Aqueduct's Post Time will be 11:25 AM. The Fair Grounds in New Orleans will also begin their meet that day (see article below) and we'll include several races from there. Today's Best Bet is #1 Star Studded in Race #5 at Aqueduct. Selections on Races 5 and 9 at Aqueduct are for TURF ONLY!! Tuesday's Results: Turf Paradise Race #2 Top Pick Winner #4 (Mr. Harbor) Paid $3.40. Exacta Top with 2nd (4-3) Paid $21.80.Philadelphia Race #9 Exacta 2nd with top (8-7) Paid $29.80. Trifecta (8-7-1) Paid $150.40. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 10) CAPE OF STORMS - Field's most experienced runner comes back to face fellow state-breds after racing against open foes on Polytrack at Turfway and Keeneland. Has run well many times this year without getting the maiden win. Should run well with these and the post is a big plus. (# 3) Burnished Copper - Pair of very good races to begin career. Both of those efforts were on the grass. Trainer Michael Dickinson sends him to the main track, and colt has trained on Tapeta surface at trainer's homebase. Blinkers go on today. Needs to transfer the form. (# 4) Duke of de Buqe - Comes here via Churchill where Todd Pletcher had a small string this summer. Excellent work there on Oct. 14 and well-bred gelding by "Dixie Union" has a very sharp drill at Belmont for this. (# 9) Blizzard City - Decent effort in bow when ignored in the wagering. Son of "City Zip" was bumped at the start, recovered to contest the pace while between horses and tired late to finish third. Should improve, but trainer Bush does much better first out than second. AQUEDUCT Race #FIVE (2:20 PM Eastern) (# 1) STAR STUDDED - Short freshening (two months) should have done him a world of good. Threatened to get the win a few times but couldn't finish the deal. Several poor post draws contributed to his defeats. Coa takes over and runner gets to save all the ground. (# 11) Dynaski - Needs a scratch to compete. Last saw a powerful late rush that just fell short. He's just now starting to come around after being stopped in February. (# 4) Caught Stealing - Goes back to the grass after a poor dirt route at the Meadowlands. Late-runner has some pretty fair grass races to his credit. (# 7) Mighty Thor - Last was his best in some time and it came at this track, level, and distance. Grass appears to be his better game and it looks like he's coming around. Barn has been heating up a bit. (# 6) Hostile Takeover - Goes third off a layoff for trainer Rick Violette. Nice run in an off-the-turf event at seven furlongs last out. Has been bet right along, so maybe there's some ability here. Coa abandons for our top pick. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 2) TOUCH THE DEVIL - Makes his first start off a seven-week freshening for the Tony Dutrow barn. Claimed last out, he has been working sharply for the return. Trainer excells off the buy, and off the short rests. (# 6) Pure Devil - Richard Dutrow trainee drops and shortens up for this. Well backed in both starts, he ran well in debut against the highly-regarded "Etched." Trainer does well with this dropping type. (# 4) Hackensack - Ran well for this tag in Saratoga debut. Away two months, he had a wide post in Laurel return and may have needed the effort. Drops back in for debut price for George Weaver (# 8) Bomber D Back - Poor start and an ensuing wide journey gave him no shot in last. Race before was a good try, his first in blinkers. Johnny V. keeps the faith. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 3) SPECIAL FORMAT - Stretches out off what was her best effort to date - a fine third-place finish sprinting at Belmont in a race won by a prompt favorite. Trainer Alan Goldberg is 17% with stretch-out performers. (# 2) My Therapy - Last was excellent second-place finish at this track and surface. Blinkers were removed that day by new conditioner Enrique Arroyo who is off to a fast start here. (# 1) Rockpaperscissors - Goes second off a six-month layoff for trainer Del Carrol. Had a poor post that day and a wide trip didn't help. May improve at long odds. (# 4) Fiona Freud - Throw out her last, a race that was switched to the main track. Turf races are good and she ran well over this infield in only try. (# 8) Wicked Queen - Probable favorite with Coa, may be overbet and has no real advantage over these. Will contend, but will need to run her very best to win. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
