Free Horse Racing Tip - November 19, 2008

We had a nice day yesterday, highlighted by our top pick (El Batallon) winning the 7th race at Philadelphia, paying $20.60. We also had the exacta clocked, with our top two picks returning a cool $221.00. For complete results see below.

The Fair Grounds is dark until tomorrow so we'll substitute a "late" race from Churchill to go along with two each from Aqueduct and Hollywood.

Best Bet is #3 Castle Harbour in Race #9 at Aqueduct.

Today's Horse Racing Picks:

AQUEDUCT Race #6 at 2:45 PM Eastern

Top pick: #8 (HORSESHOE BUOY) - Very poor maiden race on view here with most not worth anything near what they'll be running for ($20,000). This daughter of "Mizzen Mast" has shown some speed racing against better on the grass. Drops in value and goes turf to dirt. Looks like the best of a bad bunch.
2nd pick: #1a (Tame the Dice) - Makes her 3rd start back off a 3 1/2 month layoff and has enough late kick to be a part of this at the end. Shows whatever she has today.
3rd pick: #3 (Angel Alana) - Another going turf to dirt and dropping in price. Working fast on the dirt and at age three, she has more room for upside thatn the others. Expect her to come out "winging". Win threat.
4th pick: #5 (Passion Reddy) - Competitive on the turf against tougher, her two non-grass races are very poor. Difficult call, but several in here have no chance whatsover, so that makes her a player.

AQUEDUCT Race #9 at 3:40 PM Eastern
Top pick: #3 (CASTLE HARBOUR) - Drops into a claimer for the first time, has some speed, and draws the rail. Looks on the verge of his maiden win.
2nd pick: #10 (Big Negilla) - Makes his first start since October of "07". That's the negative, the positive is he's now in the Richard Dutrow barn. New trainer is legendary off of long layoffs. Must use if he goes.
3rd pick: #11 (Brother of Gold) - Had no chance last out with a wide post going a mile in the mud. After being asked on the turn he folded and the jockey basically wrapped-up on him. Must overcome a difficult post at this distance.
4th pick: #9 (Five Cases) - Had a poor start last out, but to his credit he still gave a good account of himself, checking in a distant 3rd. Previous pair were strong tries and he's an improved runner since coming back from a half-years absence.
5th pick: #8 (Western Call) - Gelding offered nothing last out from the rail, but his previous four tries put him in this if he rebounds from his poor outing.

HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #3 at 4:30 PM Eastern
Top pick: #6 (TOM QUINN) - Speedy gelding will be dropping out of a MSW contest where he led until the 1/8th pole. Had a poor post (11) that day and had to be sent hard from the break. He's had a month since that race and has worked 4 times in the interim. The horse to catch and beat.
2nd pick: #7 (Bruin Bench) - Much improved race last out and it came on this surface, and at this price-tag. Son of "Benchmark" has shown progress in all three starts since his debut. The main foe.
3rd pick: #1 (Impregnable) - Drops into a claimer and goes turf to dirt for trainer Mike Pender. Comes-back quickly for start number two, and he has a big "bullet" drill since. Draws the rail and looks primed for his best.
4th pick: #8 (Just Go Gusto) - Fields most experienced runner's best race came two back when he drew a nice outside post (like today). Don't think he can win it, but he could hit the exotics at a big price.

CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #10 at 5:05 PM Eastern
Top pick: #10 (INDYGO MOUNTAIN) - Expensive ($600,000) son of A P Indy had a nice debut run that should set him up well for this. Had good early speed rating just off the lead, rallied strongly in the lane and got up to run 2nd. Winner came back to take another and makes this runner's debut look even better. Trainer (Bret Calhoun's) 2yr.olds are better 2nd time out, and this colt draws a good post for this mile distance. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Flying Warrior) - Trainer Bill Mott stretches this son of "Fusaichi Pegasus" out to a mile today off a pair of sprint tries. Colt improved in his 2nd outing and has worked sharply since. Looks ready for a strong effort.
3rd pick: #12 (Futuristic) - Nice debut run against weaker saw him battle for the lead from start to finish and miss by less than a length. Goes from a 30K claimer into MSW competition and draws a nice post for the distance.
4th pick: #6 (Carnival Ride) - Goes turf to dirt in this his 3rd lifetime start. In a capable barn (Bob Holthus)and trainer wins at just under 50% with the turf to dirt move. Shot at a big price.

HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #7 at 6:35 PM Eastern
Top pick: #7 (KYNISKA) - Irish-bred and raced, she has never had the opportunity in 5 starts overseas to run on a "firm" surface. In the top barn of Bob Frankel, her last race abroad was poor, but it was on very "soft" ground and against colts. Faces her own sex today and gets lasix for the first time.
2nd pick: #3 (Tripped the Light) - Just missed last out at Santa Anita at this condition and it came first off a 2 month layoff from trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Race was her best yet and she;s an obvious contender.
3rd pick: #4 (Lemon Punch) - Ran well on the "cushion-track" surface on October 23rd, her first race in 2 months and first on anything but turf. Daughter of "Lemon Drop Kid" showed better speed that day and will move back to the grass for this.
4th pick: #5 (Savannah Peach) - She could wind up the speed in this contest as there is very little on view. Recent returnee from Delaware Park has been improving of late and she could lead this for a long time at a big price.
