Horse Racing Selection - November 16, 2007With Aqueduct's track guaranteed to be off today, we'll only go there for two speed plays and also have three races from Churchill for a grand total of five. As you know Aqueduct cancelled after a pair of races yesterday. We didn't have it, but our second picks won the two races run, combining for a $102.50 Daily Double. Today's Best Bet is #4 Trixie Bee Mine in Race # 2 at Churchill Downs. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 1) CITY IN THE CLOUDS - The speed from the rail on a presumed sloppy/good track. Has had a month since her last appearance and she has a pair of very sharp drills at Saratoga for this race. Capable against these no matter what the track condition. (# 5) Golden Manna - Sharp maiden win at this track and distance last Sunday. That was her third strong effort in a row, and I think she has finally turned the corner. (# 6) Silver Elegance - Easy maiden win last out in an "off the turf" event at Belmont against a very weak field. Lightly raced, she may still be able to improve some more. (# 8) Keuka Maid - Filly has a pair of good races since coming here from Finger Lakes in late September. Has a stalking style, which combined with her post is a advantageous. CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #TWO (1:05 PM Eastern) (# 4) TRIXIE BEE MINE - Goes second off the claim for the powerful Maggie Moss operation. Has had Tom Amoss as one of her trainers for over a year, and they have been very successful. Filly drops to the claimed level and stretches out to a one-turn mile. (# 7) Pappy's Girl - Ran well in a mile race earlier here this season. Goes first off a claim by trainer John Fahey, and he triples the filly in value. Fahey is 29% first off the buy. (# 8) Peennypinchinpete - May fair well despite the fact that she is basically a route runner. Last was a good effort from a bad post two-turning here. Goes third off a layoff. (# 1) Gold Dancing - Has improved her performance level quite a bit in her last three. Showed a new dimension in last when she closed ground after breaking slowly. AQUERDUCT Race #FIVE (2:20 PM Eastern) (# 4) ALL FIRED UP - Very sharp victory in last, her first race in two months. Stalked the pace from very close range, and drew off easily late. Similar strategy here should get it done, as the top end looks a little light. (# 5) Bourne First - Drops to her lowest price tag ever and also cuts back from a mile for this. Very dangerous runner from the Contessa barn. (# 6) Regal Playtime - Another dropping and cutting back a bit. Appears better at longer distances, but trainer(Reynolds) is a sharp operator, and filly should be a square price. (# 1) Kera's Cookie - Had speed at one time, but has proven a bit of a under achiever this season. Ran well in a distance race last out at the Meadowlands finishing second in a small field. Should save ground and make a late run. CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #SEVEN (3:30 PM Eastern) (# 6) STAR PLAYER - Bit of a wide-open affair on view. This runner ran well at this distance and price tag in last - his first off a seven-week layoff. Did so in a large field while between horses most of the way. Should improve today. (# 4) Sargeant Silver - Goes first off a seven-week layoff for trainer Helen Pitts. Ran well on the dirt at Ellis, then regressed in last on Turfway's polytrack. May improve quite a bit today. (# 9) Ride the Whiz - Tries a one-turn conventional dirt race today. Has shown early interest in last pair. With this draw, should be the early leader. (# 7) Bishop Casey - Interesting longshot showed nothing in debut, but was bet somewhat in a "key" maiden event at Delaware Park. Now with the powerful Autrey barn, his last pair of works are very good. (# 2) Ship's Piano - Logical runner, may be overbet a bit in here. Blinkers go on to try and get him more involved early. Has the look on him of being a hanger (to this point). CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #NINE (4:30 PM Eastern) (# 3) SPLENDID IN SPRING - Another runner from the Maggie Moss/Tom Amoss operation. Has raced well at a variety of tracks this season. Speed shown in all races, and the recent works indicate that she's ready to roll off the seven-week freshening. From on or just off the top. (# 4) Fast Deal - Lukas runner has been a very solid performer for the past 18 months. Looks like the early leader, and she can be tough to get by, as she likes to get into a fight. Dangerous rival. (# 5) Sumneytown - Uncoupled barnmate of the top selection. Can stalk, which may be useful here. Stumbled in latest at Mountaineer, ran second in prior race at Presque Isle. Working very fast for this. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
