Free Horse Racing Handicapping - November 14, 2007Today we'll concentrate solely on Aqueduct with selections and analysis on four races. Today's Best Bet is #8 Last Train Babe in Race #5 at Aqueduct. We also include an article (below) about the heyday of horse racing and how it compares to some of the other mainstream betting sports. Tuesday's Results: Turf Paradise Race #3 Top Pick Winner #4 (Prorunner) Paid $8.20. Exacta Top Pick with second pick (4-2) Paid $21.20. Trifecta Exact order (4-2-7) Paid $59.20.![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 7) READY TO FLY - Well bet in debut at Monmouth in early August. Race was won by a very good one, and this filly misbehaved a bit before the start. Has a pair of sharp drills at Monmouth and Bravo is aboard for a good barn (Cambolati). (# 2) Pulpitina - Great debut run to get up for second with a late close. Has a sharp work for start number two, and trainer Clement is 20% with second timers. (# 3) Karen's Beauty - Showed speed and was heavily backed in a trio of starts in Florida during the summer. Now in New York with a new trainer (Campo Jr.) she has a pair of excellent works for the return. (# 8) American Queen - First timer from the Steve Asmussen barn. Trainer wins with 20% of his debut runners. Daughter of "Quiet American" has the right work tab, many drills with several fast ones interspersed. AQUEDUCT Race #FIVE (2:20 PM Eastern) (# 8) LAST TRAIN BABE - Goes second off a layoff for the Richard Dutrow barn. Good speed shown that day, and runner plunges down the claiming ladder for this. Trainer is 24% with second-time returnees, and gelding draws a good post for this. All Systems are a go. (# 1) Used to Be a King - Speed from the rail, and can also stalk and finish. Trainer Canet is a very sharp operator, and anything he sends out cannot be discounted. (# 2) General Ryan - Drops to his lowest price tag ever, and also moves back to the main-track. Barn (Hennig) has acceptable numbers for that strategy. (# 6) Aflareandaprayer - Regressed in last, an event at the Meadowlands which was dominated by the top two finishers. Drops down to the price of her best effort, and returns to Big A home base. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 8) CHANCED - Big improvement for the Levine barn from start one to two. Took some money and just missed getting the maiden win. Has had a month since the last race, and trainer adds Lasix today, a very strong move for Levine (28%). (# 6) Fairy Godmother - Scratched out of a good-looking spot the other day to await this. Only really poor race was the one start with blinkers. Has already run well over this surface - a big plus. The horse to fear. (# 4) Lost Without You - Speed shown in start two and trainer adds Lasix today for daughter of fine sire "Mutakddim." May outrun expected huge odds. (# 7) Win for Fun - Daughter of "Wheeleway" showed speed in well-backed debut run. Attracted Coa in bow and Jersey regular Rajiv Maragh is aboard today. Sharp work on Oct. 29 for start number two. AQUEDUCT Race #SEVEN (3:15 PM Eastern) (# 5) STEPASIDE - Has improved with each start, culminating last out with an impressive maiden score. Beautifully bred for the grass, and trainer Tom Voss has brought him along slowly. (# 6) Logic Way - Goes off a six-week layoff, and Johnny V. who was aboard for the maiden win earlier this season, is back aboard. Strong finisher, is the horse to beat. (# 8) One Good Man - Has been in this condition seemingly forever. Enough good tries to his credit to make him a stalking threat. (# 9) North Country - Pair of impressive sprints on the grass at Belmont to begin his career. Sharp work since the maiden win. Tries winners and a distance of ground for the first time.
