Belmont Stakes Pick - November 10, 2008In racing news: Yesterday at Zia Park in Hobbs, New Mexico, the mare "Pepper's Pride" won her 18th consecutive race (a North American record). State-bred won the "New Mexico Filly and Mare Championship" a $177,615 contest and pushed her earnings to just under one million dollars. Today we'll venture to Philadelphia Park and Delaware for two races apiece. Delaware ends its long meet tomorrow, one that started this year in mid-April. Today's Best Bet is #4 Fearless Folly in Race #4 at Delaware Park. Sunday's Results: Aqueduct Race #3 Top Pick 1A (Sarah Accomplished) Part of entry Pd $6.50. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #5 (SUNSHINE COFFEE) - Sharp last out in his maiden win and first start for trainer Bill Hedus. Broke running and easily went wire-to-wire. Eligible for more improvement and he draws outside of the other speed. 2nd pick: #3 (Any Which Way) - Nice race on October 5, returning from a seven-month layoff. Dropped into a claimer that day for the first time, he was involved in a pace duel thru swift fractions and although beaten, he held down the place. He's had over a month to recover and need only repeat it to be a win factor. 3rd pick: #1 (Obscurity) - Tough call. He hasn't shown anything since his maiden win in June. Drops to a career low and draws the rail. If he has anything left, he'll show it today. 4th pick: #2 (Alyjen's Speed) - Ran a big race two back at this price tag, just missing. Tired last out against better going longer. Drops and shortens up today. DELAWARE PARK Race #4 at 1:40 PM Eastern Top pick: #4 (FEARLESS FOLLY) - Sharp race last out as she dropped down to this tag, had a tough trip and came up a nose shy. Solid since the Lake claim in July, she returns quickly for this and will be very hard to beat. 2nd pick: #7 (Graceful Bay ) - Working swiftly for her return from a seven-week layoff. Filly was in good shape earlier this year and may return to that form off the rest. 3rd pick: #2 (Storm Child) - Has some speed to offer, but she finished a little over three lengths shy of the top pick last out and that runner has more room for improvement. 4th pick: #3 (Raider's Fan) - Goes for her third in a row today, but will need further improvement to threaten for the top spot. Lightly raced, she's now in a top barn (Pete Walder). PHILADELPHIA PARK Race #6 at 2:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (CONSIDER ME) - Makes his second start back off a layoff for trainer Alan Goldberg. Raced evenly last out against tougher at the Meadowlands and drops today to a career low price tag. 2nd pick: #4 (Gallant Gulch) - Delaware shipper enters this on an upward form cycle and brings solid two-turn form to the race. Likes to run mid-pack and the pace could be lively, aiding his cause. 3rd pick: #5 (Ijada's Run) - Nice win at Laurel sprinting last out off a seven-week freshening. He's improving of late and had several good two-turns races at Delaware earlier this year. DELAWARE PARK Race #7 at 3:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (SISTER KATHLEEN) - Daughter of "Toccet" likes this surface (4-2-1-0) and last out reported home over six lengths clear at this distance in a 2L $25,000 claimer. Raises in price for her first at this condition, but she's too sharp to bet against. 2nd pick: #4 (Clair Bear) - Stretches-out in distance for trainer Tony Dutrow after a pair of sprint wins back-to-back. Has good speed to use and would expect her to be on or just off the lead. Trainer is fine on the distance increase. 3rd pick: #1 (Truck Ride) - Improving at this stage and she'll be trying a distance for the first time. Sharp wire-to-wire maiden win in the slop on Oct. 28, so trainer Dale Capuano "wheels" her back quickly for this. Capuano is deadly on the strtech-out angle (25%). 4th pick: #2 (Sister in the City) - Daughter of "City Zip" broke her maiden at Monmouth at this distance in late August. Freshened up by trainer Jim Ryerson, she returned sprinting on Oct. 20 and rallied late to finish fourth. Goes long again today. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
