Preankess Pick - November 10, 2007Today we have selections and analysis on five races from Aqueduct and Hollywood Park. The selections on race No. 4 at Aqueduct are for TURF ONLY! Today's Best Bet is #5 Coronas at Delmar in Race #2 at Hollywood Park. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 7) IMMORTAL EYES - A repeat of any of his Saratoga or Belmont races should be good enough. Tried a stakes in last at the Meadowlands, and was bumped soundly at the start. Sharp speed is an advantage over mostly inexperienced field. (# 4) Honour Above Self - All three runs have been solid. Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens adds blinkers today. Was beaten soundly by the top choice in his debut race. (# 1) Jockey Ridge - Draws the rail which has been good here the past few days. If colt has some speed, which his works indicate, he will factor early. (# 6) Lieutenant Ron - Debuts for a fine first-out barn in Kiaran McLaughlin. Trainer wins with 19% of his debut runners. Colt has some sharp drills. AQUEDUCT Race #THREE (1:20 PM Eastern) (# 7) DOUBLE COLICO - Fastest of these early on and draws a great post to flaunt it at this 6.5-furlong distance. Trainer (Steve Klesaris) has had a super year. Rarely brings a horse to New York that doesn't belong. Wire-to-wire threat. (# 4) Monster Drive - May try for the lead, but in form runner may get outrun by the top pick putting him into chase mode. Has done so successfully in the past. (# 1) Executive Fleet - Ability to stalk a bit and pounce are a big plus, especially if a speed duel takes place. Dangerous if he repeats latest. (# 5) Juror - Ran fine on England's pair of polysurfaces at Lingfield and Wolverhampton last year. Has no early gear to speak of and there are some sharp speedsters in here. I'm including him in the underneath position in tris. AQUEDUCT Race #FOUR (1:50 PM Eastern) (# 3) FRA LIPPO - Sprinted in debut at Saratoga and had a wide trip. Has been on the sidelines since, trainer Chris Clement has taken over the training duties. His stats with new arrivals is 20%, and with this length returnee it's 25%. The horse to beat. (# 8) Poker God - Has come back from a layoff a better animal. Last pair make him a dangerous rival. Should be about 3-5 lengths from the pace and make a strong late run. (# 1) Fly the North Wind - Tries the turf for the first time and does so in a second off a long layoff situation. Good race in the return, and he should move forward off of it. (# 7) Sir Cryptomite - Has improved greatly since moved to the turf. Last was very good, but it was a perfect trip second. Stayed on the rail in the longer race at Belmont and moved into second late. Probably will be overbet. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #TWO (4:00 PM Eastern) (# 5) CORONAS AT DELMAR - Moves off the rail for this, and that should allow him a much better trip. Has plenty of speed, and has had a month since his last race. Three solid works also point the arrow this way. Has a race over this surface in June debut. (# 9) Seattle G - Defeated by several in here in initial run, he performed well from a wide post. Good trainer in Peter Miller, he has a pair of works at San Luis Downs since the first effort. Should improve. (# 7) Baby Gotham - Trainer Brian Koriner scored with a firster just several days ago. Works on this one are solid, including a very fast one on Nov. 2. (# 4) Razor Cut - Was defeated by the top selection in latest by three lengths. Has leveled off in his performance level after seven starts, and short of a freshening, is not likely to run any better. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 1) FIVE TOWNS - Makes only his third lifetime start against New York breds. Arrived here last winter after showing promise in Florida at two last year, all against open-company rivals. Stayed close in last to one of the fastest horses in New York, "Southern Prince." Has the rail, is speedy, and should move forward off the return race. (# 6) Smash - Blinkers go on veteran runner who has been on a bit of an upward spiral since July. Can duke it out all the way if necessary, but lying just off the pace would appear the way to go. (# 4) Mondo Diverso - Has proven competitive with allowance types, and lightly raced runner may yet have more improvement in him. He'd like a fast/contested pace. (# 7) Soulshine - Fits very well against these New York breds. Has been facing some tough open claimers at various pricetags, and was claimed two back by the Contessa barn, probably with this type of race in mind. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
