Horse Racing Systems - November 09, 2008Our top choice "Acoma" rallied strongly after swinging out turning for home and proved "clearly best" in winning the $201,950 Mrs. Revere Stakes (G2) yesterday at Churchill Downs. Filly completed a successful three-year-old season for trainer David Carroll with a trio of stakes wins and she was equally adept on both turf and dirt. Winner returned $7.20 and coupled with second finisher "My Baby Baby" our second choice, completed the 3-1 exacta which returned $55.20. Churchill announced that effective immediately, purses for the remainder of the meet would be cut 10% across the board, due to a turn-down in business and failure to secure satisfactory contracts to send its signal to various outlets across the country. Today's action will consist of three races from Aqueduct and one from Churchill Downs. Today's Best Bet is #5 Head Heart Hoof in Race #4 at Aqueduct. Saturday's Results: Churchill Downs Race #9 Top pick #3 (Acoma) $7.20. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #1 (ANJORIE) - Sharp maiden win at Saratoga was followed by a two month break to give her time to grow and mature. She attempted a $100K stakes next out at a mile and ran very well to finish a close-up third. Shortens-up to a sprint and draws the rail. Think she'll rebound today. 2nd pick: #6 (Mother Russia) - Very speedy filly won a stakes two back at Finger Lakes against her own sex, then finished a strong third facing colts in her most recent. Threat on the front end. 3rd pick: #5 (Sneakin Up) - Filly has a stakes win and a second-place finish in another added money event in her last pair. Shortens up and her lack of speed may hinder her chances. Threat, but she may be over-bet. 4th pick: #4 (Gem For Hook) - Tired badly last out and finished well behind both "Anjorie" and "Sneakin Up". Freshened up and she has good speed to employ. CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #3 at 1:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #9 (SOUTHERN SURGE) - Had a poor post in her debut and a very wide trip from it. She made a strong move on the turn and flattened out in the last furlong. Moves to conventional dirt for trainer Steve Margolis, who is much better with his stock second time out. 2nd pick: #4 (Foxy Bailey) - Filly has finished second in three of her five starts. She has both speed and stalking ability and will move back to 'real' dirt where her strongest races have come. 3rd pick: #3 (Implicate) - Nice debut saw her move strongly to the lead in mid-stretch but "hang" a bit in the last furlong. Natural move forward in start number two puts her in this. 4th pick: #10 (East Breaks) - Filly debuts for Steve Asmussen off some moderate looking drills. A half sister to five other winners, she runs first out with stable-jock Shaun Bridgmohan aboard. AQUEDUCT Race #4 (The New York Stallion ) at 1:50 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (HEAD HEART HOOF) - Impressive pair of starts to begin his career, including his maiden win in the slop at Saratoga. Tired when sent long in a stakes in his first against winners. Freshened-up since and working well for his return to action. Fast and fit, he's the horse to beat. 2nd pick: #1 (Tall Poppi) - Logical selection and probable heavy favorite. Improving in each start, he finished second in the mile "Sleppy Hollow" stakes in mid-October. Shortens up for this and draws the rail. 3rd pick: #8 (Fotographia) - Impressive win in his debut at Belmont on October 22. Settled into stride, rallied when asked, and proved best. Tackles a stakes in his first try against fellow winners. Tough, but not impossible task. 4th pick: #3 (Bitabaz) - He's proven not as talented as the top pair, but he tries hard and he could hit the exotics at nice odds. Ability to hold his ground is a plus. AQUEDUCT Race #7 (The New York Stallion ) at 2:45 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (LOGIC WAY) - Consistent as they come and he's improved considerably since a private sale and a trainer switch to Richard Dutrow. Comes off a win in the "Mohawk" stakes at Belmont and he enters this in the best shape of his career. Draws the shortest route home. 2nd pick: #7 (Classic Pack) - Veteran stakes runner likes to come from far back and the prospect of a "soft" course would aid his chances. Very tough, especially if the pace is fast/contested. 3rd pick: #3 (Get Serious) - Jersey-based runner only finished a "neck" behind the top pick in the "Mohawk" at Belmont. Has speed but can also stalk successfully. He's a much improved runner over last year. 4th pick: #2 (Dr. Decter) - Lightly raced, but talented. He'll attempt a distance and try a stakes, both for the first time. Pace factor may hang around a long time. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
