Belmont Stakes - November 09, 2007Today we have a total of five races, three from Aqueduct and two from Hollywood Park. A reminder that Hollywood conducts night racing on Fridays, with a post time of 10:00 PM EST. Please note: Post time for Hollywood Park race No. 6 is 12:25 AM EST. Today's best bet is No. 7 CHAMAYO, from Hollywood Park race No. 4. Thursday's Results: Aqueduct Race #4 Top Pick Winner #2 (He's Solid Gold) Paid $8.60. Exacta Top Pick with 2nd Pick (2-5) Paid $37.40. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 4) ODE TO REVOLUTION - Tried turf in first pair and showed big speed in both efforts. Goes to the main track today and it's a surface he's bred for. Good works on it and he may go wire-to-wire. (# 5) Five Cases - Best race was a second-place finish came the only time in four that this gelding was in for a tag. Lasix is also added today for the drop back down. (# 8) Firstfromthebox - Distant second when in with straight maiden claimers in last. Run was much improved over the initial run in maiden special state-bred event. Contessa runners often continue improvement patterns. Good post draw to stalk. (# 3) American Interest - Goes into a claimer for the first time for trainer Bob Barbara. Improved a bit in second start with a hint of speed shown. AQUEDUCT Race #THREE (1:20 PM Eastern) (# 1) SALTWATER TAFFY - The speed on the rail in Big A debut. Easy wire-to-wire win in Delaware unveiling on Oct. 9. Trainer (Mike Trombetta) is successful wherever he runs, and rarely brings a horse here unless he thinks they belong. (# 4) Freakstein - Blinkers go on for this obvious contender. Whistled in Spa. debut, then tried a pair of stakes where she ran well. Trainer Bill Mott is 21% when adding blinkers. (# 5) Darling Monique - Nice win from just off the pace in Meadowlands debut for the Pletcher barn. Race was slow for the track. (# 7) Silky Kitty - Fields most experienced runner has proved she can pass some horses late. Most of these are front-end types and some will back up quickly thru the field. If she's patient, she may get a chunk of this. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 7) DESERT SCENTS - Drops and stretches after a two-month freshening. Beaten by the second choice last out and needs to improve to reverse that decision. Think she can do it. Sharp work at Monmouth on Oct. 23. (# 8) Fairy Godmother - Obvious contender. Draws a good post and has already proved competitive at this distance. This is her first attempt in a claimer. Many things point this way. (# 6) Mrs. B - Good run sprinting in the slop at Belmont. Gets Lasix for the increased distance, but more importantly attracts Coa. Dangerous additions. (# 4) Linden Ave. - Drops into a claimer for the first time after a trio of so-so tries against tougher. This is also her first try at a distance of ground. If she factors, it will be late in the race. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #FOUR (11:25 PM Eastern) (# 7) CHAMAYO - Goes second time out, and it's been over 18 months since that initial run. Has an excellent gate work in preparation for this. Think all she needs is a trouble-free beginning. (# 1) Catalina Dancer - Daughter of "Muqtarib" was wide in last at this tag and gets a ground saving post today. Should perform better. (# 11) Happyhour Atthebrig - This runner makes start No. 22 today, most all right around this price tag. This field is poorer than usual for the level, so she has a legitimate shot. (# 12) Sunset Sonata - Poor run last out, her first on an artificial surface of any kind. Needs to run her best ever to do more than fill out the super or tri. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #SIX (11:55 PM Eastern) (# 14) Kat Kald Kalamazoo - (PLEASE NOTE THAT POST TIME FOR HOLLYWOOD PARK RACE NO. 6 IS 12:25 AM EST) Looks like the main speed unless the No. 15 runner scratches in. Excellent return run in last,a close-up third-place finish. Has a pair of maintenance works since the last run. Tough if he repeats most recent run. (# 6) Home of the Bold - Comes back for a sharp outfit (Peter Miller) off a six-month stint on the sidelines. Runs below the claimed price, so I'll assume he has him ready. Trainer is 37% with this length returnee. (# 15) North Fleet Street - Obvious contender, but needs a scratch in the main body of the race to compete. Probable favorite if he runs. (# 8) Mr. Topper - Has improved a bit since coming back from a four-month layoff. Efforts have been more competitive, and he has a shot at the exotic bottoms at a good price.
