Horse Racing Tip Sheets - November 08, 2007Aqueduct's weather could be a little dicey with a cold front moving in so we'll offer four races, one from the Big A and the rest from sunny Hollywood Park today. Today's Best Bet is #8 Carrie's a Jewel in Race #3 at Hollywood Park. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 2) HE'S SOLID GOLD - Zito colt drew a very tough group in Spa. debut. Second finisher "Grand Minstrel" looks like stakes material. Colt had traffic problems in that late August race. Sharp work over the Spa. training track on Oct. 30. Barn has always specialized in seven-furlong races for their two-year-olds. (# 5) Southern Gale - Firster is working very fast for John Terranova. Not Known for first-out success, trainer reaches out to Johnny V. for the initial run. (#'s 1 and 1x) Cloud Nine and Overheated - We'll take either runner in this entry. Both are making their second start and trainer (Violette) does well in second-out situations. Prado climbs aboard the 1X. (# 7) Hepcat - $200,000 son of "Tale of the Cat" makes his second run today. Gets an extra furlong and ran evenly in debut. Took some monetary support in initial run. Good shot in exotics at a big price. (# 8) Carson Hall - Debuts for the Tagg barn and they continue to be overlooked with their firsters. Barn is 23% during the past two years with debuters. Has five published works in Oct. and one already this month. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #THREE (4:30 PM Eastern) (# 8) CARRIE'S A JEWEL - Has run well all year at a variety of levels, distances, and surfaces. Has a win here at Hollywood in June and at this $8K level is an obvious contender. (# 3) Jimmie Pong - Claimed two back. Her last time out she ran well at the $10K level. Drops a peg and fits very well at this price. Her speed is also an assett. (# 1) Another Comic - Makes her return below the claimed level of last December. Return runs in the spring were fair. On the shelf again, she has several good works over this surface for the return to action. (# 4) Kentucky Waltz - Cuts back a bit and also drops a notch. Ran well over this surface earlier in the year. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #SIX (6:05 PM Eastern) (# 3) BERTIE BOY - Trainer/jockey combo had some success during the Del Mar meet. Goes second off an eight-month vacation, and drops a notch for this. Speed shown in the return and should move forward off of that. (# 8) Tribal Chief - Drops and shortens up for his second start off a two-month layoff. Sharp trainer Sadler put a very good speed work in him on Oct. 20 just eight days after his return run. Very dangerous. (# 2) Honour an M.D. - Firster from the sharp Hollendorfer barn. Trainer wins with 19% of his debut runners, and this one has some sharp works. (# 1) Partywithlarryz - Goes third off a layoff and the return pair show that he's an improved animal since being given the time off. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #EIGHT (7:05 PM Eastern) (# 4) MT. WHITNEY - Blinkers go on for start number three for the Harrington barn. Seven-furlong distance seems a natural fit. Trainer is winning with 25% of his blinker additions over the past two years. (# 9) Acquired - Drops considerably and sharp trainer Ron Ellis adds blinkers. Took her share of money in the debut run. (# 8) Mangyan Model - Seven-furlong distance should play well to her close-up style. Has been bet in all starts to date. (# 2) Mystic Geisha - Drops to her lowest ever and initial run against straight maidens came over this surface. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
