Free Horse Racing Handicapping - November 04, 2007Since Aqueduct was cancelled yesterday we'll offer up five races again today, two from Santa Anita and three from the Big A. Today's Best Bet is #1 Altesse in Race #8 at Aqueduct. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 4) SHE BELONGS TO US - Blinkers go on for the Jackson (Contessa) barn. Goes turf to dirt, and a route to a sprint. Working quickly and think she'll run well in here. (# 2) Jordan's Lane - Hasn't raced since finishing second on the inner track last Feb. Had a couple of good efforts last season at two. Trainer Richard Dutrow's horses are listed under assistant Juan Rodriquez while he serves a suspension for a medication violation. (# 9) Golden Dawn - Makes her first start here after beginning her career in the mid-west. Has run well in a couple of starts, and she now is in the fine barn of Mike Hushion. (# 1) So Glitzy - Hasn't raced since Gulfstream in February. Showed some speed in her second start, and has a quick work on Halloween Eve. AQUEDUCT Race #SEVEN (3:15 PM Eastern) (# 6) Glamour Star - Has run very well at this condition since breaking her maiden. Up-close style is good in this particular field, and she can win this on the turn with a quick burst. (# 4) Storm Dixie - Pletcher sends out this filly who has had several wide trips that have cost her dearly. Should be able to save some ground in here and make a late impact. (# 7) Show Me How - Tries a distance of ground for the first time today. Is improving with each race, got the maiden win last out and looked good doing it. (# 9) Box it Up - Has to overcome this outside draw and try and avoid a wide journey. Nice race in return from a two-month vacation. Albertrani barn is heating up of late. SANTA ANITA Race #TWO (3:30 PM Eastern) (# 3) ISLAND HOP - Last, her first race in almost two months, produced filly's best race ever. Made up a lot of ground late to finish a close fourth. Has been in with some good horses along the way, and the nine-furlong distance should suit her just fine in a second off the bench situation. Nice drill on Oct. 30 for this. (# 5) Foreign - Blinkers go on this daughter of "Point Given" for trainer Neil Drysdale. Has been off four months after breaking slowly that day. Also broke late in career debut last Dec. Extra real estate is a plus, but holds no real advantage. (# 6) Powerofvoodo - Start No. 16 today, and filly may need cheaper to get that first win. Still is a contender and the distance is no problem for her. (# 8) Silver Moomshine - Probable pacesetter, switches coasts and trainers. Now with Carla Gaines, this daughter of "Silver Deputy" has some serious speed, which this field lacks. AQUEDUCT Race #EIGHT (3:40 PM Eastern) (# 1) ALTESSE - Likes this 1 1/8 mile distance. Won the Heavenly Prize Stakes at Saratoga at this two-turn configuration. Draws the rail, has some speed and I think she can out-kick this field late. (# 3) Peak Maria's Way. - Excellent early speed, and she has proven very tough to beat if allowed an uncontested lead. Edgar Prado is back and takes the reins. Very dangerous runner in here. (# 5) Sugar Shake - Probably will go off the favorite on reputation alone. Has been a bit dull of late, but she has back class and is working well for this. SANTA ANITA Race #FOUR (4:30 PM Eastern) (# 9) STREET NUMBER - Goes third off the bench for Bill Spawr. Drops down some more for this and his close-up style should play well. Great shot at the win at a decent price. (# 10) Lonely Highway - Obvious contender, ran a fine second when dropped down to this tag last time out. Has run well against tougher and will be tough to deny. (# 4) Tradition - Son of "Elusive Quality" has been a major disappointment, as he cost $340,000 as a yearling. Last may have been his best yet, and if repeatable, he could contend for the win. (# 12) A Triple A - Goes third off a layoff for Vlad Cerin. Improved a bit in the second start back, and needs to move forward some more. (# 8) Fallen Leaf - Has been running and finishing evenly since day one. Middle-of-the-pack type needs to find more in the stretch. Think he belongs best at the bottom of supers and tris. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
