Santa Anita Horse Racing - November 03, 2007

Today we offer five races and analysis instead of the usual four, one from Santa Anita and four from Aqueduct.

Today's Best Bet is #6 Visionary in Race #5 at Aqueduct.

Today's Horse Racing Picks:

AQUEDUCT Race #THREE (1:50 PM Eastern)

(# 6) WISE MOUNTAIN - Mark Shuman can win races anywhere he runs. He's 65 of 287 with quite a few stakes this year. Son of "Wiseman's Ferry" ran well against open maidens at new venue of Presque Isle in last. Track is a tiring one so he should be fit. Goes against fellow state-breds today, and he's set up well for a win.

(# 4) Good Law - Heavily bet in lone start at Saratoga, he gets blinkers on today and a stretch-out in distance. Working well, he will certainly improve.

(# 7) Major Dome - Appears to be the type that will need racing to get in shape. Resides in a good barn, and may sneak into the exotics at a good price.

(# 1) Missinglisalewis - Slight move forward in last landed him a minor award in a maiden claimer. Capable of a board finish.

(# 6) Visionary - Maggi Moss/Bruce Levine trained runner is a veteran win machine(13 for 38). Fast and fresh, he can take this from on or just off the top. Proven at the level and distance many times.

(# 7) Ojibway - Goes third off a layoff for the Galluscio barn, and he has been facing much tougher his whole career. This is his first appearance at this low a price tag.

(# 5) Explosive Count - Another veteran who is sliding down as he gets on in years. Is proven at this $10K price and should be involved from the get-go.

(# 8) Favorite Sweep - Fourth member of the veteran brigade, he has lost his fine early speed that he had at one time. Close-up stalker needs some pace help.

(# 1) CANTINA'S ROSE - Impressed in last when breaking her maiden. Necessary improvement shown in start one to two. Has proven that she can stalk and pass horses, and that will be the way to win this. She's working sharply since the win on Sept. 30. With any further move forward can take this.

(# 3) Runforthemoneybaby - Logical selection and possible favorite. Ran huge against open competition in the Oak Leaf, and she is the horse to fear. Would put both of these on top, as one of the two should win it.

(# 2) Unusually Hot - Broke her maiden when stretched out in last. Good work since that win and she will be a late factor.

(# 5) Warren's Angel - Has already run well against winners, and fields most experienced runner may get a piece of this.

(# 4) SMASH 'EM SAMMY - Hard-hitter gets to run at his trainer's home base again today. Sharp work on Oct. 30, and trainer Scott Schwartz adds blinkers today for the first time. Likes to get involved and fight it out.

(# 5) Zipperoo - Appears to be the fastest early on. Couldn't get the lead in the slop in last. Has proven that if he can clear, he is a tough horse to reel in.

(# 9) Five Towns - Stayed on well in last and didn't give up a lot of ground. Proven classier in the past, and appears to be nearing his best.

(# 6) No Parole - Lightly raced this season and he has his problems, but appears to be coming around to his best race.

(# 2) Phillip X - Late rally defeated the top pick in last, but rarely repeats his good efforts.

(# 7) STEPASIDE - Hard to argue with the progress this gelding by "Real Quiet" has shown in his three starts. No telling at this stage how good he may or may not be. Think he'll be a good one.

(# 4) Stately Pegasus. - Rallying type retains Coa, so there must be something that he likes. He was aboard in gelding's good second-place finish here in April.

(# 8) Logic Way - Many good efforts on his resume, and has the best late kick of these if the pace should not hold.

(# 5) Calagaitor - Should be part of the speed in here, and has proven to have a close-up stalking gear if necessary.

(# 10) One Good Man - Enough close-up tries against this type to have to include him in your exotic bets. Needs to avoid a wide trip.
