Free Horse Racing Tips - November 02, 2008Nice performance over a good field by "Criticism", our top choice in yesterday's "Long Island" hdcp on the Aqueduct turf course. Filly saved all the ground, swung out turning for home and proved best late over the hard-hitting "J'ray" and french invader "Astrologie". She returned $10.20 for the win. Today's four-spot will come exclusively from the Big "A," as their weather looks like it will be a beautiful early November day. Today's Best Bet is #4 Warm Shower in Race #4 at Aqueduct. Saturday's Results: Churchill Downs Race #1 Top Pick #3 (Presents For Berti) $5.20.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #4 (STOLIATSIROS) - Runner is nicely spotted by trainer Bruce Levine. Very fast early, he looks like the main speed and should prove very hard to "reel" in if he clears early The choice to pick up his second win. 2nd pick: #5 (Wise Little Guy) - Lightly raced colt wasn't that far off the top choice last out and he appears to be the one that will be in closest attendace to the "pick" as they turn for home. Has a chance to run him down. 3rd pick: #6 (Northern Storm) - Goes third off a three-month layoff following a claim by the Jacobson barn. "Legged" up on the turf last out, he moves back to the main track for his third start off the break. 4th pick: #9 (Billy Bear) - Easily defeated a group of maidens in his debut at Belmont in an 'off the turf" contest on Sept. 28, going 8.5 furlongs. In a sharp barn (Rich Dutrow) and he'll move to a sprint for his first try against winners. AQUEDUCT Race #2 at 12:55 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (SHEIK'S SERENADE) - Impressed in her debut on Oct. 12, with a "game" second-place finish after breaking a bit "awkwardly." Quick turnaround by the Bill Mott barn indicates she's doing well. Seven-furlong distance should be right for her. 2nd pick: #8 (Spell Check) - Poor racing luck in her debut added up to a sub-par performance. Sloppy track, poor post (11), and a wide trip all contributed. Filly finished a strong second last out at Belmont with a clean start. Working fast for this and she draws a nice post. 3rd pick: #1 (Southern Oaks) - Lots of speed shown by this filly in her Saratoga bow before tiring a bit late. Freshened up since by the McLaughlin barn, she may take a lot of catching. Trainer is 27% with runners making their second start. 4th pick: #7 (Mia's First) - Sold after her debut to the IEAH/Dutrow combo, she finished a strong "on the pace" second in her first for the new connections. Pace factor from the start. AQUEDUCT Race #4 at 1:50 PM Eastern Top pick: #4 (WARM SHOWER) - Sharp debut run at Belmont saw her rally strongly from the head of the stretch to the wire and just miss. Two-turn nature of this race is in her favor and trainer (Angel Penna Jr.) is strong (31%) second time out. 2nd pick: #8 (Always Willing) - Showed good speed in her debut on the main track and held well until the last 1/8th. Moves to the grass and should be a factor from the beginning. 3rd pick: #10 (Driven Snow) - Wide trip in her debut going seven furlongs on the Belmont grass. Trainer Chris Clement stretches her out and adds lasix (a strong 24% move) by him. Draws another tough post (10). 4th pick: #5 (Split Second) - Rallied late while racing wide in her turf debut at Belmont going six furlongs. Stretches out today and may do well at a nice price. AQUEDUCT Race #8 (THE NASHUA (G3)) at 3:40 PM Eastern Top pick: #4 (ROYAL VINDICATION) - Colt has proved to be a very game and determined runner in his four races. He's improved in every race, and last out won a small stake at Belmont with a strong finish from between horses. Training like he's ready for another big race. 2nd pick: #1 (Prince Charming) - Looked sharp in his maiden win in the Belmont slop for trainer Jimmy Jerkens. Dug in when challenged for the top and put away his foes before drawing away late. Working sharply since, and he could be a talented one. 3rd pick: #7 (Forty Thieves) - Speedy runner from the sharp mid-Atlantic barn of Steve Klesaris.
