Horse Racing Methods Systems - May 08, 2008This Saturday we'll have a detailed rundown on the prospective field for the Preakness Stakes (G1) which will be run on May 17 at Pimlico Racetrack in Baltimore, Maryland. Derby winner "Big Brown" will in all probability face a field of 8-10 rivals, which will include only one runner from the 19 that he vanquished last Saturday. "Recapturetheglory" the Illinois Derby winner who ran a creditable fifth in Louisville will take another shot in the Preakness. Today we have four races for selections and analysis, all from Belmont Park. Today's Best Bet is: #2 Classic Love in Race #7 at Belmont Park. Wednesday's Results: Belmont Race #1 Top Pick Winner #6 (Rap Tale) $4.00. Exacta (6-30) $10.00. Belmont Race #8 Best Bet Winner #1 (Groomedforvictory) $3.40. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 3) CHESTORIA - The horse to beat if ready. Stakes winner on this course is working well for her first appearance of 2008. Daughter of "Chesterhouse" probably has stakes "down the road" in her connection's sights, and may not be cranked 100% for this. Filly is two-for-three on this course, her only loss coming in the Garden City (G1) against "open" foes last September. Tough, but reverse those exactas. (# 6) Whateverwillbwillb - Hard-hitting grass mare had a nice seasonal debut at Aqueduct, tiring late to finish third in a race she probably needed. Should move forward off of that and she has a nice record on this turf (10-1-3-3). Very dangerous rival. (# 1) Queen of Protocol - Recency edge is in her corner as she won her seasonal and three-year-old debut at Aqueduct from a tough outside post on April 13. Barn (Donk) has been having its best run in two years. Lightly raced, she could turn out to be a very useful runner. (# 2) Chestertown - Ships in for Mike Trombetta and she'll be trying grass and fellow state-breds for the first time. Filly is two-for-four and has some grass in her pedigree. Tactical speed is part of her package and she has the hedge. BELMONT PARK Race #TWO (1:30 PM Eastern) (# 4) DESERT SCENTS - Poor start in latest cost her the win as she just failed to run down "Blairstown" last out. Richard Dutrow-trained filly has a pair of strong tries at this "flat" mile distance at Aqueduct and rather surprisingly in a nine-horse field, is only one of two to have raced at Belmont before. (# 8) Idontknow maybe - Comes here from Maryland and the fine Mike Trombetta barn. Freshened up since picking up her third win on March 22, she's a mid-pack type who has a win at Laurel at a one-turn mile, just like this. (# 1) Blairstown - Speed of the speed, and she resides on the rail. Last, a win at this distance on Aqueduct's main-track, was her best effort since October. She'll take them as far as she can. (# 2) One More Lillian - Training well for her first start away from the lower mid-western circuit. Filly has a pair of wins, one each at Remington and Sam Houston and ran evenly in two races at Oaklawn. Claimed out of his last by Enrique Arroyo who has done good work over the past six months. BELMONT PARK Race #FIVE (3:05 PM Eastern) (# 3) SCORSICA - Claimed two back by Arroyo for $25,000 he raised her in price and ran her on the grass last out. Filly showed some speed that day and should set her up well for this effort. Drops below the purchase price and moves back to the dirt. Appears well set-up by the connections. (# 2) Golden Operator - Contessa-trained filly hasn't raced since last June on the turf here at Belmont. Drops considerably in price and has been in steady training . Big threat if ready. (# 4) Demaliat - Trailed the field in her debut on April 2 at Aqueduct after breaking from an outside post. Filly had trained well for that initial run and has worked fine since. Obscure rider insures a good price. Trainer (Dom Galluscio) is a fine 17% with second-out runners. (# 8) Pinky Swear - Daughter of "Delaware Township" finished second at Penn National in her seasonal and three-year-old debut on April 10. Has some positional speed and can finish well. Field is weak, so she has a fighting chance. BELMONT PARK Race #SEVEN (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 2) CLASSIC LOVE - Makes her first start outside of the mid-west and does so for trainer Bruce Levine. Filly has good speed in a race without much and also draws the rail. Broke her maiden at Oaklawn two back and then ran in an allowance in her first against winners. Drops into a claimer and Levine wins with 29% of new arrivals to his barn. (# 7) Divorce Court - Claimed out of last by Joe Lostritto from Gary Contessa for $15K. New trainer doubles her in price and she meets a weak group for the tag. Recent pair of sharp works indicates ahe's doing well. (# 5) Happens in Vegas - Quick filly is coming off a claim and making her first New York start. Broke her maiden two back at Gulfstream in a good performance and showed speed in her first try against winners running for $25,000. (# 8) Sand and Song - Broke her maiden here last October as a two-year-old. Probably needed her seasonal debut on April 3 and trainer Tim Hills adds blinkers for this attempt. Filly has been working sharply since that attempt. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
