Preakness Handicapping - July 29, 2010We had our Best Bet score yesterday (No. 5 Aquino $7.60) in the third race at Saratoga along with a nice exacta and tri to go along with it. For full results see below. Today's East Coast racing sheet again concentrates on Saratoga with three races and one from Delaware Park. Today's Best Bet is #1 Ermine Slippers in race #5 at Saratoga. Wednesday's East Coast Results: Saratoga Race #1 Top Pick #8 (Zosogood) $11.60. Saratoga Race #3 Best Bet #5 (Aquino) $7.60.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #4 (VISION D'AMOUR) - Drops into a claimer for the first time and also will race around two-turns today. Well-bred, in a winning barn (Bill Mott), working nicely, and he's the choice for the win. 2nd pick: #6 (Tinian Island) - Stretch-out sprinter runs for a barn (Mike Hushion) that excellent in that department (36%). Gelding by "Bernstein" will attempt to go wire-to-wire in this spot. Win candidate. 3rd pick: #1 (Z Force) - He's part of a Nick Zito trained entry and #270,000 colt by "Harlan's Holiday" has had a "ton" of trouble in his last pair. Think he'll show a lot more early speed today and has a shot at a big price. 4th pick: #3 (High Stakes Player) - Also drops into a claimer for the first time off a pair of even efforts at Belmont facing tougher. Runs third off a two month break and trainer Chad Brown will remove his blinkers after a one-race experiment. SARATOGA Race #4 (THE LUCKY SCRIBNER S.) at 2:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (LADY ALEXANDER) - Speedster is in-form and draws a nice outside post at this distance to flaunt her front-running skills. Can stalk if necessary and daughter of "Exchange Rate" should be a nice price. 2nd pick: #1 (Decelarator) - Talented runner hasn't seen live action since pressing and tiring on Derby Day in the Eight Belles. Stakes winner is working very fast for trainer Wayne Lukas and her trainer has her set up for a big effort off the rest. 3rd pick: #2 (Devil by Design) - She won here last year and it came at this 7-furlong trip. Stalker comes into this off a "troubled" trip at Belmont in the "Bed O'Roses" (G3) and should run much better today. 4th pick: #7 (Unforgotten) - Kentucky shipper races second back off a two month break and had a "bullet" drill at Chirchill before shipping east. One-run type would love a fast/contested pace to rally into. SARATOGA Race #5 at 3:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (ERMINE SLIPPERS) - Daughter of "El Prado" has good tactical speed and draws the advantageous inside post in this 11 furlong marathon that starts on the far turn. Can see her hugging the hedge through out and swinging out the second time around, and after drawing clear, she can hold off "Dyani" late. The top selection. 2nd pick: #2 (Dyani ) - Obvious win candidate has finished second in her last pair at Churchill and should appreciate the extra distance that she'll run at today. Daughter of "Dynaformer" will be tough to hold off late. Win candidate. 3rd pick: #7 (Deceive) - Beautifully-bred filly raced evenly at Belmont last out in her first ever on the grass and is bred to love this longer distance. Looks set to show whatever she has in this spot. 4th pick: #5 (Jewelry) - Lightly-raced filly by "Gilded Time" has raced evenly in her first pair in Krntucky and trainer Ken McPeek will add blinkers today for the first time. She could impact at a big price. DELAWARE PARK Race #7 at 3:55 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (ONELITTLEINDIANBOY) - Well-bred colt broke his maiden for this tag at Churchill May 13 and has raced well in his first two starts facing fellow winners. Stalker has all the speed to his left in the gate and should get a solid pace to rally into. The top pick. 2nd pick: #4 (Cacto Canto) - Lightly-raced colt was claimed last out by Brad Cox for $15,000 and runs back 40 days later for $10K. Barn is excellent first off the claim (40%) and often drops it's stock (like this one). Win candidate. 3rd pick: #6 (Devil's Weekend) - Has the best early speed and he steps up in price after finishing second last out facing weaker. Improving quickly at this point and a threat on the front-end. 4th pick: #2 (Bodyshots) - Disqualified for a medication violation last out after winning at this level and distance stretch runner comes-back quickly (10 days) to try and prove it was no fluke.
