Belmont Park Race # 2 Top Pick #5 (Bad Decision) $3.80. Belmont Park Race #3 Top Pick #4 (Red Hot Dawn) $8.80. Belmont Park Race #4 Best Bet #5 (Vacare) Scratched Belmont Park Race #9 Top Pick #3 (Indian Blessing) $3.30. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 4) DIXIELAND STAR - Very sharp in his first pair of '08 starts, this son of "Hook and Ladder" looks like he is on the verge of his maiden win. Combination of speed/stalking ability to use and he can win this in his third start off a late November layoff. (# 3) El Tamberito - Freshened up since a turf try on May 21. Colt had trouble in that one and race has turned out to be a bit of a "key" event. Tony Dutrow-trainee finished second in his first three races (all on the dirt). Dangerous runner off the rest. (# 7) I'm Entitled - Slow start in his debut going 5 1/2 furlongs, but runner still had a good "educational" race. Trainer Bruce Levine adds lasix a 41% move for him, and colt gets some added ground today. Levine is also strong second time out (27%). PHILADELPHIA PARK Race #SIX (2:30 PM Eastern) (# 2) BRUCKER'S BROTHER - Win machine was recently re-claimed by Jayne Vaders as she and Scott Lake have a bit of a "claiming" war going on over this runner. Continues to race in superb form no matter who puts the saddle on him. 18-time winner was scratched out of a race on July 4 to await this spot. Runner has had 5-weeks since his last race and that's the way he likes it. (# 6) Trifecta - Much like the top pick, he continues to race in fine form in just about every start. Stalker likes this distance and track. "Brucker" has defeated him the last three times they've met. Contender from just off the pace. (# 4) Hobbitontherocks - Drops in price and his last was his best since coming back from a nine-month layoff. Stakes performer in his younger days has slipped since, but latest was a step in the right direction. BELMONT PARK Race #SIX (3:35 PM Eastern) (# 8) TRUE REBEL - Claimed two back by Dom Galluscio, he immediately gave the runner five weeks off and brought him back below the price paid. Gelding finished a fine second that day with a late rally. Stays at the same tag and draws a good post for his stalking style. The horse to beat. (# 1) Poker God - Drops in class and goes turf-to-dirt for trainer Carlos Martin. Broke his maiden in a switched race two back and looked sharp in victory. Draws the rail and there's enough speed signed up to make his stalking journey payoff. (# 7) Bad Streak - Rallied late to finish second when dropped to this price for the first time. Doesn't have as much speed as the top two selections and will need to build on his last effort. (# 4) Stand Pat - Lightly-raced colt showed some speed in his last which came against better and was his second off a long layoff. Drops in value and looks primed to offer his best. BELMONT PARK Race #SEVEN (4:05 PM Eastern) (# 3) AUGUST REX - Son of "Smoke Glacken" had an impressive pair of races to start his career earlier this year. Won his debut on March 22, despite some adversity and then chased a very fast colt who went wire-to-wire on April 25, settling for the place spot. Freshened up since, he looks like the main speed and could prove tough to catch. (# 7) Mr. Universe - Lightly raced and in a top barn (Steve Jerkens) he's been gingerly handled so far, but now gets a stern class test. Broke his maiden impressively on this dirt and trainer excells in these short rest periods (21%). Works indicate he's ready to roll. (# 5) Amped - Sharp maiden win last out and colt by "Fusaichi Pegasus" seems to be putting it all together. Likes to come from off the pace, so a fast/contested front-end would help his cause. (# 1a) Value Player - Solid runner is part of an entry from the Richard Dutrow stable. He's raced well in all four starts this year, has a nice work on July 4, and has been this distance many times.
