Best Horse Racing Systems - January 07, 2008

Today we have a total of four races to make up our menu for selections and analysis. Two races each from Gulfstream Park and the Fair Grounds.

Today's Best Bet is #9 Cloudburst in Race #7 at the Fair Grounds.

Sunday's Results: Aqueduct Race #4 Top Pick #6 (Gullible Gal) Finished second paid $9.00 to place.

Gulfstream Park Race #8 Top Pick Winner #6 (The Cat's Affair) Paid $5.60.

Today's Horse Racing Picks:

FAIR GROUNDS Race #THREE (2:35 PM Eastern)

(# 3) BUCKETS 'N' PANS - Probable favorite and logical selection has been knocking on the door of late and he should be tough to deny in this spot. Race isn't real deep on paper and if you put this runner on top and in the second position the exacta can be had.
(# 4) Raksh's Time Bandit - Goes second off a layoff and tries a distance for the first time. Favored in his last when returning off a nine-month hiatus, he was in a perfect spot but hung a bit late. Looks primed and ready to offer his best.
(# 1) Ideseeyouinhouston - Finally gets an inside post after a series of five races where he has drawn out in the track. The rail may give him a much more comfortable journey and he's a contender.

GULFSTREAM PARK Race #EIGHT (4:35 PM Eastern)
(# 11) CHIEF GONE WEST - Lightly-raced runner picked up his game big time in last at Churchill just missing at this condition and distance. Working sharply since coming to So. Florida with the Mott barn. He is one of a pair entered by Mott and they race uncoupled.
(# 9) Sacrifice Bunt - The second of the Mott duo has had the misfortune to run into some sharp runners along the way. Has a ton of experience in distance racing and will be a late threat.
(# 8) Port Royal - This flat mile may be right up this runner's alley. Has some speed and has been sharp in two-of-three for Allen Jerkens. He continues to work well and Prado takes the reins.
(# 7) Silver Express - Pitts runner hasn't returned the same horse that showed the promise of last spring. Possible that he could still turn it around as he's only a recently turned four-year-old.

FAIR GROUNDS Race #SEVEN (4:40 PM Eastern)
(# 9) CLOUDBURST - Big speed shown in her first pair when she got to the races in the fall. She's had two months to grow and mature, and by the looks of the recent works she'll return a better filly. Daughter of "Storm Cat" again attracts Albarado and she's the choice for the win.
(# 6) Mena Time - Even performance in her debut for this daughter of "Gilded Time." Barn (Steve Asmussen) likes to give them one and she gets to try the infield today. Would be no surprise to see her run big.
(# 5) Coeur d'Arc - Speed shown in well-bet dirt debut on Dec. 7 for the Tom Amoss barn. Filly had worked swiftly before that race and comes back today on a surface switch - an impressive 30% move by the trainer.
(# 7) Go Hoots Go - Firster from the top barn of Mike Stidham is by the "Mr. Prospector" stallion (Hussonet). Latest work is very good from the gate and it may have her on edge for her debut.

GULFSTREAM PARK Race #NINE (5:00 PM Eastern)
(# 6 CLERPARK - Claimed last out by the potent Frank Calabrese/Mike Catalano barn, this gelding has been with some top outfits this year: Steve Hobby, Mike Stidham, Cody Autry and Mike Maker. New connections have given him six weeks off since the buy and he is training superbly for this assignment. Choice for the win.
(# 10) Armament - Tough horse when he's right, and the last at Calder says that he is extra sharp at this stage. Trainer Richard Dutrow has spotted this son of "Mr. Greeley" well today.
(# 2) Go Directly to Jail - Good performer fits the race and his stalking style should play out well when combined with his ground saving post.
(# 4) Kaufman - Mid-pack type need to find some extra kick to do more than pick up a minor award.
(# 5) Aly's Wheat - Consistent sort has proven late in his career that he belongs on the grass. Late on the scene type needs some pace to run at to do his best.
