Horse Racing Line - December 29, 2007Had a pair of winners yesterday along with the accompanying exactas at Aqueduct. Today, as is our custom on Saturdays and Sundays, we have five races selected for picks and analysis, three from Aqueduct and a pair from Turfway Park. Today's Best Bet is #2 Tiz My Dream in Race #4 at Turfway Park. Friday's Results: Aqueduct Race #4 Top Pick Winner #3 (Snare) Paid $5.70. Exacta Top with 4th pick (3-5) Paid $83. Aqueduct Race #6 Top Pick Winner #5 (Toocoolforschool) Paid $5.30. Exacta (5-1) Paid $21.40. Trifecta (5-1-6) Paid $63.50. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 4) MY HUSBAND - Goes third off the bench for the Contessa Barn. Prolific winner (11-for-41) improved in his second start for the barn and Jersey-bred should sit a good trip here before commencing a rally. (# 1) Warwick Wonder - Stretches out for the Tony Dutrow barn after he claimed runner last out for $25,000. Lightly raced four-year-old has some talent and appears to be reaching his peak. Trainer is a great 31% fresh off the buy. (# 2) Reaffirmed - Has had a month off since his last race after he tailed off just a bit. Sharp drill on Dec. 18 at trainer Patty Farro's home base of Philadelphia Park is noted. (# 6) Bailero - Wonderful old-timer can still bring a good race if they're properly spaced apart. He's much better around one turn at this stage, but his overall record and trainer Dick Dutrow make him a use in exotics. TURFWAY PARK Race #FOUR (2:30 PM Eastern) (# 2) TIZ MY DREAM - Has been tiring late in her races but she hasn't been able to get a clear advatage. Daughter of "Tiznow" has had a month since her last race and has a very sharp drill on Dec. 22 at Keeneland for this. Think she can go wire-to-wire. (# 5) Scattin Emma - Daughter of "Scatmandu" has finished on the board in all three tries on the local surface for trainer Byron Hughes. Stays mid-pack and makes a late run. She'll be six next week and hasn't picked up the winners share yet. Looms a very tough opponent. (# 3) Candeed - Has run evenly in all of her starts. Can factor with these, but needs careful rating by the rider, and has to finish better to have a chance at the win. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 11) LYKE A HURRICANE - Unless one of the firsters is a quick one, the lead appears to be his for the taking. Goes third off a layoff and a trainer switch to Dave Duggan. He's fast and is working well. Coa is in Florida so Dominguez takes the reins. (# 12) Raffie's Deer - Tends to plug along and generally gets a small slice. Post is a detriment, as he had the rail to save ground last out. If he can avoid a wide trip, he has a shot. (# 10) Golden Amulet - Ran well last winter but he came back in May raced once and needed the rest of the year off. Working steadily and several are of the quick variety. (# 3) Thunderin Otis - Shipped from Finger Lakes to the Contessa Barn and gelded son of "King Cugat" has a pair of sharp six-furlong drills since arriving here. (# 2) Will Never Bend - Start number 16 without that first win doesn't inspire much confidence, but he plugs along and if you're playing tri's and or supers, he's a use on the bottom rungs. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 5) READY READ - Mr. H. Allen Jerkens has gone to So. Florida, so he left this runner with Bernie Callejas. Steady performer at today's tag, he is in shape, so unlike many of the others he's not surrounded by question marks. (# 4) Lightning Larry - Claimed last out by Dave Jacobson, he runs him back at the same price while adding blinkers. Trainer has had a good run the past two months. This colt is already speedy, so the addition of the "hood" may send him winging. (# 9) Burn One Turn One - Drops and goes from turf to dirt for the Asmussen barn. Has back races that would win this if he's ready to show his best. The surface switch is a strong one for the trainer (28%). (# 12) Mass Charles - Poor post today after a sub-par return run off a seven-month layoff. Has some back class and may do better second off the pine. TURFWAY PARK Race #TWELVE (6:10 PM Eastern) (# 9) TALK FAST - Claimed out of her debut run at Churchill by trainer Dan Smithwick for $30,000 from Greg Foley. Daughter of "Yankee Gentlemen" raced wide on a track labeled sloppy in her only race, and finished evenly while well out in the track. Working well for her first race for the new connections as they raise her up to $50,000 today. New trainer does very well with his claims, winning at a 29% rate. (# 8) Stella Stella - Logical selection and probable favorite ran second on Dec. 12 at this level and distance for trainer Greg Foley who previously trained our top pick. (# 7) Dancing Mary - Freshened up by trainer Byron Hughes after debuting here on Oct. 3, filly showed some speed that day before tiring very late. She has a quick drill on Dec. 15 that indicates that she may come back running. (# 10) A Gal Named Sue - Drops into a claimer and that should help her be more competitive. She's tired twice at the MSW level after showing some early speed. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
