Belmont Stakes - December 28, 2007Hope that those of you that are receiving the newsletter for the first time are enjoying it! We have selected four races for analysis today, two each from from Aqueduct and the Fair Grounds. Over the weekend we'll have five races, which is our normal for Saturdays and Sundays. Today's Best Bet is #11 Booth in Race #1 at the Fair Grounds. Thursday's Results: Aqueduct Race #4 Top Pick Winner # 8 (Rockpaperscissors) Paid $11.40. Exacta Top Pick with 2nd Pick (8-7) Paid $41.40.
Aqueduct Race #7 Top Pick Winner #2 (S.S. Belle) Paid $7.20. CORRECTION: In reporting Wednesday's results, we had listed horse No. 7 "Cupid's Honour" in Turf Way's fifth race. The name we had meant to list was No. 7 "Honour My Grades," to complete and win the trifectas and superfectas we reported. "Cupid's Honour" was the No. 6 horse. Wunderdog Racing regrets the error. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 11) BOOTH - Makes his second start off a June layoff for the Steve Asmussen barn. Chased a fast pace in the MSW event and tired a bit late. Drops into a claimer and should be able to get early position and beat these on the turn. Trainer is always strong with horses second off the bench. (# 8) Time is Crucial - Ran in a claimer last out and showed an improved run. That race was his first in two months, and he must avoid a possible bounce. (# 10) Snuck N Cat - Has shown speed in his starts but has also tired late. Has been freshened up since September and trainer Jim Hodges brings him back with "blinkers off." May hold on much better today. (# 4) War Veteran - Trainer Pat Mouton has been very sharp at this meet and anything from his barn must be used. AQUEDUCT Race #FOUR (1:50 PM Eastern) (# 3) SNARE - Asmussen runner has improved a bit in each and every start. Draws well and should be able to stalk while saving ground and make a move around the turn. Pace may be fast and contested, and that would help him out. (# 11) Linden Ave. - Strategy seems clear, try and out-gun them early and open up. There is some other possible early speed inside of her, so it may not be an easy task. (# 4) Kaz Court - Drops into a claimer for the first time. Has shown some speed and in last start she had a poor post (10). Has an extremely sharp work for this on Dec. 18. (# 5) Supporter - Blinkers go on daughter of "Hook and Ladder" for a barn (Mike Hernandez) which is better than their stats. Only race turned out to be a "Key" one at Saratoga. Could return very sharp. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 5) TOOCOOLFORSCHOOL - Tony Dutrow has been very successful with bringing his two-year-olds back from layoffs and getting the maiden win. This gelding showed a bit of speed in a pair of starts at Delaware against MSW competition. Comes back from almost a three-month freshening with blinkers on and a drop into a claimer. Working well and Dominguez takes the reins. Graduation Day. (# 8) Funny Book - Trainer David Fawkes did well here last winter with limited stock. Main base is in Florida. This gelding ran well in the slop at Calder in his debut on Nov. 19. He's worked fast since shipping north and he's a win candidate if the top pick is "short." (# 1) Decisive Victory - Hasn't run since a late June debut at Monmouth for trainer Julian Canet. He has a very smart drill at Belmont on Dec. 8 for this return assignment. (# 6) Hackensack - Has been well bet in all three starts. His best was his debut race at Saratoga. Drops in half for this and goes third off a layoff, a dangerous combination of factors. FAIR GROUNDS Race #SIX (3:55 PM Eastern) (# 5) SILVER CINDY - Has hit the board in all six starts for Samuel Breaux. Filly ran a fine second last out at seven furlongs and stretches back out to two turns today. Filly has done her best at the distance game, and looks to be set up for a big effort. (# 4) Many Moons - Stretches out off a sharp sprint try for the Al Stall barn. Trainer has also worked her twice since that race, and she should be on her toes today. (# 3) Sweet Bella Dee - Claimed by W. Bret Calhoun two back he sent her in for some rest immediately. May not have been fully cranked up in the return sprinting when she raced evenly. Stretches out and has a pair of wins at this distance. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
