Horse Racing Tips - December 19, 2007

A solid day at the track yesterday as we hit on three races including a 12-11-3 trifecta win from Tampa Bay's second race for $156.80

Today we have four races for selections and analysis. Three races from Calder and one from Turfway Park. The Turfway Race is a night affair.

Today's Best Bet is # 5 Mannington in Race # 5 at Calder Race Course.

Tuesday's Results: Tampa Bay Race #2 Exacta Box of top Three (12-11) Paid $49.20. Trifecta Box of top three (12-11-3) Paid $156.80.

Tampa Bay Race #6 Top Pick Winner #6 (El's Lightning) Paid $10.80. Exacta Top with 2nd pick (6-1) Paid $23.20.

Tampa Bay Race #8 Best Bet Winner #8 (Zara's Storm) Paid $4.40. Exacta Best Bet with 2nd Pick (8-6) Paid $17.60.

Today's Horse Racing Picks:

CALDER Race #THREE (1:15 PM Eastern)

(# 1) BREAK FOR DIAMONDS - Comes back today off a two-month layoff for trainer Joe Catanese. Filly displayed sharp speed against better before her freshening. Drops in price for the return race and draws the rail. Trainer is 14% with this type returnee.
(# 6) Blushing Tiger - Three second-place finishes out of her last four starts, all at this at the $16K price tag. Only sub-par performance was in a mile event. No reason why she won't run well.
(# 3) Flor de Canela - Returns from an August layoff for Larry Bates. Pair of recent drills indicate she may retutn a better animal.
(# 8) Red Hot Romance - Improvement in all three races on view. Journeyman jockey takes over the reins. Filly has had apprentice's aloft in all three to date.

CALDER Race #FIVE (2:10 PM Eastern)
(# 5) MANNINGTON - Goes third off a layoff for Eddie Plesa. Colt showed some talent earlier this season. Has enough speed to be involved from the start. Slight drop in claiming tag will certainly help.
(# 6) Deputy's Honor - Latest pair of works since arriving from Delaware are very fast. Colt had problems in both starts vs. winners. Trainer's stock is off to a good beginning since arriving.
(# 2) King's Bay - Claimed two back by Bill White. Doesn't play the claiming game very often these days, but is still more than adept at it. Blinkers go on, a 35% move by the fine conditioner.
(# 7) Move It Ya - Another getting blinkers for the initial time. Son of fine young sire "Officer," has shown enough to date that he could prove very dangerous from just off the lead.

CALDER Race #TEN (4:30 PM Eastern)
(# 6) LA MUETTE - Return run at this price tag, distance and condition was fine. Rallied on the turn, then stayed on well for the place in first action since early July. If she moves forward off that return, she'll be tough to deny.
(# 2) Matti J. - Consistent sort draws the rail and can use it at this 5.5-furlong distance to her advantage. Has enough speed to sit close up and save ground, then launch a rally when straightened away.
(# 8) Siber Tour - Post will hurt her chances a bit, as she is best when rating and making a late run. Fits, but needs to work out a good trip.
(# 4) Miss Killian - Has improved with the addition of blinkers to her equipment. Has a touch of speed, and she should be involved from the start. Lost to the top pick last out.

TURFWAY PARK Race #FOUR (6:50 PM Eastern)
(# 1) LADY ALBERT - Hadn't raced in over a year before returning at Hawthorne. Worked well before those races, so maybe she just needed that pair. Field is very poor and this filly has some speed.
(# 6) Pembroke Girl - Had a conditioning race at Churchill in the slop, going long, after three months on the sidelines. Has some competitive runs on her resume that would probably take this.
(# 9) Secondia Mia - Finished second at this price and distance in a race here in early December. Has a hint of speed and can hold her position. Draws a good post to use her available talent.
(# 1) Silent Reality - Has already had 14 tries without an exacta finish. Has finished third several times. Would use only as a tri or super filler if that's what you play.
