Horse Racing Selection - December 12, 2007Had a very strong day at Tampa Bay (full results below) yesterday and look forward to more of the same in the future. Today, back to cold weather racing with five from Aqueduct and Turfway Park. The race from Turfway is a night affair. Today's Best Bet is # 4 Constance in Race # 4 at Aqueduct. Tuesday's Results: Tampa Bay Race #3 Exacta (Box of top three) (8-9) Paid $73.80. Trifecta (8-9-4) Paid $329.80. Superfecta (8-9-4-6) Paid $687.80. Tampa Bay Race #5 Exacta 3rd Pick with best bet (10-5) Paid $28.80. Trifecta 3rd with best bet with 2nd (10-5-2) Paid $96.60. Superfecta (10-5-2-4) Paid $330.60. (#13 scratch). Tampa Bay Race #6 Top Pick winner #8 (Unfolding Wish) Paid $3. Tampa Bay Race #7 Top Pick Winner # 6 (Indymine) Paid $4.80. Exacta Top Pick with 3rd Pick (6-7) Paid $66.20. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 4) CONSTANCE - Heavily backed in a pair of Saratoga races, she showed big speed in both. Drew stakes winner "Irish Smoke" first out, and two-year-old filly champ "Indian Blessing" in next. On the sidelines since, she is working like a filly on a mission. (# 3) American Queen - Excellent debut race for the Asmussen barn, challenging an impressive winner but flattening out late to finish third. Nice works since, and trainer is 21% with second timers. (# 9) Mlle. Ballerina - Well backed in bow, and drew Edgar Prado in Delaware unveiling. Raced wide and was not pushed in a race that produced many winners. On the shelf for five months, she ran a game second in return at Philly Park. (# 6) Kindasorta - Darley stable color bearer cost $510,000 earlier this year. Several works indicate that she's a runner. Drew a tough field for her debut. AQUEDUCT Race #FIVE (2:20 PM Eastern) (# 3) DON'T PARK NOW - Draws the best post, and the rail has been very good the past week. Lightly raced, he crushed a good group last out in fourth start of the year. Has room for improvement. (# 2) Ricardo A - Moves far out off the cozy rail where he was last out on this surface. Will not get the easy journey like last outing, and may be forced wide. Still, he is in great shape at present. (# 1) Doc Cheney - Comes back from an early October layoff. Fits if ready, and he is working swiftly for this return. Picked a tough spot for his come-back. (# 6) Taking the Redeye - Has changed his style a bit as he used to be a strict front-runner. He now can rate and it has made him a better horse. Was beaten by the top pick fair and square two back, and will be hard pressed to reverse that decision. AQUEDUCT Race #SIX (2:45 PM Eastern) (# 4) OVERHEATED - Big speed shown in last at the maiden special level. Drops into a claimer today, a 22% move by trainer Rick Violette. Coa's presence is noted, and he and Violette are 24% together. (# 3) Lexibout - Heavily backed in lone start at Delaware. Caught a sloppy track, vied through quick fractions and tired late. Not seen since, he drops into a claimer, and trainer Tony Dutrow's stats are significant. Second start (35%), maiden claimer drop (50%), this type of layoff (26%). (# 7) Bomber D Back - Has shown speed since blinkers went on in start number two. Nice second-place finish in last at this level. May have to lay back and make a run today. (# 8) E Z Dollar - Improved a bit in last when Lasix was admimistered. Stayed on without losing too much ground. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 7) WISHFUL TOMCAT - Solid performer makes his return from a seven-week freshening for Gary Contessa. Caught some tough fields earlier on or he may have broken his maiden by now. Ability to track and make a move will prove decisive. (# 2) Ode to Revolution - Tim Hills runner had poor posts in latest pairs (11 in both). Still ran well. Goes second off a layoff, and moves way inside today. (# 3) Post Exchange - Blinkers go on for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin, a 24% move by him. Gelding by "Phone Trick" has had traffic problems of various types in several starts. (# 8) Wonderous Day - Three top tries on grass followed by a layoff from Oct. 3 until today. Training great for the return and the surface switch. TURFWAY PARK Race #FOUR (6:50 PM Eastern) (# 14) A K'S QUEST - Overall record is strong including three wins in seven starts over this surface. Drew a dead rail in latest start, worked his way clear but settled for fourth. Moves farthest out today, a good post at 6.5 furlongs. (# 12) Stand Down - Beat an easier field at Hoosier Park last out, and will need some pace to make use of his strong late rally. Fits well here. (# 8) Honor My Grades - Part of the pace for sure, as there is not a lot of speed signed on. May stick it out a long way.
