![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #1 (MRS HOLDEN) - She's switched trainers since her last race and had to be scratched last out when she was injured slightly when loaded into the gate. She's clearly the speed nearest the rail and is a serious wire-to-wire candidate. New conditioner (Mike Hushion) is a strong 26% with fresh arrivals. 2nd pick: #4 (Evaluator) - Returns from a late May layoff for trainer Dom Galluscio and will do so with a claiming tag for the first time. Daughter of "Hook and Ladder" showed good speed back then and has several sharp drills on her work tab. 3rd pick: #10 (City Vicar) - Contessa trained filly is another returnee, this one from March 30th. Heavily bet in her first two, she did not break sharply in either start, but a recent 6 furlong work on Dec.4th is solid. 4th pick: #11 (Marian B) - Continues to be in a position to win but has been found lacking at "crunch time". Contender and draws a nice post to stalk from. 5th pick: #7 (Talented treasure) - She's almost 6yrs.old and still hasn't won. Finished 2nd last out in a very slow heat and she'll have to do better today. AQUEDUCT Race #8 at 3:40 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (NAJARANS STAR) - Part of a strong entry from trainer Richard Dutrow. Filly tired in the Meadowlands mud last out and has been given a month since that last race. Has good speed and draws the rail, and that combination has been winning a lot of races on this track. 2nd pick: #1a (Mike's Little Girl) - Completes a nice 1-2 punch if she goes. Stakes placed runner is one of three entered in this "optional" claimer for the $75,000 price-tag. Away since mid-October, she's working well for her return and has both speed and stalking ability to utilize. 3rd pick: #3 (One Step Ahead) - Not surprisingly, this filly ran a career best in winning her last in her first start for trainer Bruce Levine. Lightly raced daughter of "Include" is a big player here if she can repeat her last effort. 4th pick: #5 (Discovery Launch) - Tired first off a Bruce Brown claim on November 28th on the main-track here. Veteran is sent a distance off of that sprint and she could be primed for a big race. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #2 at 4:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (BEAU GRIS) - Trainer Vlad Cerin will send this fast gelding long today and he should have little trouble clearing off early and leading them on a "merry" chase. Trainer wins with this move 21% of the time and he enlists Bejarano today. Wins this from on or just off the lead. 2nd pick: #5 (Scorewithcater) - Likes to sit just off the top and that could lead to a very big effort here. Broke his maiden last out and was claimed out of that contest. Obvious threat. 3rd pick: #2 (Salah Pick Six) - Also has some speed and he'll probably elect to sit off of our top choice. He could also take it to him early and force him to rate. Either way he's dangerous. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #4 at 5:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #4 (WIND CAPER) - Filly broke her maiden in impressive style then was given about 3 months off by veteran trainer Ron Ellis. Overmatched in her return she gets some class relief today and will race with blinkers. Look for a much better effort. 2nd pick: #5 (Pride) - Filly has been a bit "hot and cold' in her race swith some several very good efforts and the others a bit "blah". Returns from a layoff from the Pletcher barn and he wins at 26% off of them. 3rd pick: #1 (Joe'sgoldengirl) - Speedy runner was "cooked" in a speed duel last out after winning her maiden in wire-to-wire style. Has the rail and would expect her to try and win this early. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #6 at 6:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (SILVER VISTA) - Trainer Mike Mitchell has him headed in the "right" direction since returning from over a year on the sideines. Won two back and may not have cared for being in a pace battle last out. Veteran conditioner adds blinkers today a strong move (23%) by him. 2nd pick: #5 (Twin Turbo) - Looks to be rounding into shape after a half-dozen starts following a year's absence. Won his last and has followed that up with a sharp work. Dangerous. 3rd pick: #6 (Glimmering Pete) - Has good stalking ability and should be very close to a "moderate" pace at best. Win candidate needs to finish a bit stronger. 4th pick: #4 (Bodacat) - No speed runner has been pretty successful with that style. Comes off a strong win and he likes this distance. Projected "slow to moderate" pace is predicted, and that may "doom" him to a minor award. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
