Horse Racing Tip Sheet - December 10, 2007Yesterday our big race was the third from Turfway Park where we hit a total of $76.80 which includes a $53 exacta win - in order (4-2-8). Overall, we had a decent weekend with five winners out of 10 races with four exactas. Today we'll go down to So. Florida again with four races from Calder. Today's Best Bet is # 5 She's All Eltish in Race # 7 at Calder. Sunday's Results: Aqueduct Race #3 Best Bet Winner #1 (La Porta) Paid $3.40. Exacta Top Pick with 2nd. Pick (1-6) Paid $9.90. Turfway Park Race #3 Top Pick Winner #4 (The Cleverest) Paid $5.20. Exacta Top Pick with 2nd. Pick (4-2) Paid $18.60. Trifecta Top-2nd-3rd (exact order 4-2-8) Paid $53. Turfway Park Race #9 Exacta 2nd Pick with Top Pick (7-11) Paid $21. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 1) COOKSON - Wide last out while chasing a wire-to-wire winner. Draws the rail, and may take these from on or just off the top. (# 6) Wonderfin - Probable favorite on the big drop. Grass race last out should have him dead fit for this sprint try. Claimed for $25,000 they'll let him go for $12.5K. (# 2) First Prince - Continues to plug along, and his experience is worth something, as he has proven that he can pass horses. Field is light, so he may hit the tri. (# 7) Straightcornwhiskey - Sent long on grass in debut against straight maidens. Dropped to this tag for start two, he caught slop, but showed more interest. CALDER Race #FIVE (2:15 PM Eastern) (# 3) PERFECTLY NATURAL - Smashing maiden win in off-the-turf event in last over the main track here. Just missed in previous try on the Belmont turf. Daughter of "Forestry" cost $400,000 and has been gingerly handled by the patient Chris Clement. Time to show whatever she has. "Key" first and second with the other selections in your tris and/or supers. (# 5) Savor It - Just missed in last at Belmont at six furlongs after breaking her maiden going long at the Meadowlands. She's had two months since her last race, and may be very sharp off the bench. (# 6) Banner Elk - Veteran mare has been in the money in 7 of 12 starts at this distance on grass. Close-up stalker should get a good trip with the speed positioned to the inside of her. (# 4) Mo's Prize - One of a pair from trainer Wesley Ward and they will race uncoupled. Filly will make her first start for him after being with fine mid-west trainer Kim Hammond her whole career. She's improving quickly at present. (# 1) Carsons Regal Lady - The second of the Ward runners, she draws the shortest route home. Along the way this year, she has lost on a consistent basis to several of the other selections. Not impossible, but would use in the lower slots of your tri's and supers. CALDER Race #SIX (2:40 PM Eastern) (# 6) LEVY LIGHT - Broke his maiden two back at this distance in impressive fashion. Tried much better on the grass in first try against winners. Had a wide trip and did well under the circumstances. Drops to $10K and moves back to the dirt. Very tough to beat. (# 8) Rhapsody in Purple - Win candidate did well on the stretch-out in last, his third off a layoff, and first after two sprint preps. Fits on all accounts, and his speed is his biggest plus. (# 3) Palm Bay - Decent effort in last, finishing third for this tag in third try against winners. Ability to rate and pass some make him a late threat. (# 1) Universaltour - Broke his maiden in start No. 13 in mid-August. Has been on the sidelines since, as he had 10 starts already this year. Rest may have done him some good. Has a habit of breaking late. May get one of the minor awards. CALDER Race #SEVEN (3:10 PM Eastern) (# 5) SHES ALL ELTISH - Logical favorite, and very tough to beat with anything approaching the debut effort. Heavily backed at 5.5 furlongs, she stumbled at the start, recovered well and finished a game second. Draws a cozy slot for seven-furlong race, and she should beat these. Trainer Marty Wolfson is an amazing 44% with his second-timers. (# 1) Malka - May sneak away at fair odds. Deceptively good run in return race last out. Winner was very impressive, and in such a small field (6) it's hard to make an impact on a wire-to-wire horse. Nice three-furlong spin at Gulfstream on Dec. 2. All set and ready to go for Mr. Jerkens. (# 3) Newport Harbor - Tries hard every time, and has already run well at three different tracks. Tries number four today. Should be in a position to do some damage as they hit the lane. (# 6) Miss Leonardo - Draws a tough crew, and I think that the best she can do is hit the bottom of the exotics, but may do so at a square price. Unusual to get any value on a Ziadie runner.
