Triple Crown Horse Racing - December 08, 2007Aqueduct's race No. 2 was our big winner yesterday as we hit with a trifecta (6-4-2) for $88.50 and the exacta (6-4) for $37.80. Five races today. Today's Best Bet is: Fair Grounds race 10 (# 1) Costa Rising. NOTE: We have two races from Aqueduct and three from the Fair Grounds which is Louisiana Bred day. All 11 races are stakes. Friday's Results: Aqueduct Race # 2 Top Pick Winner # 6 (Naima) Paid $5.40.Exacta Top with 3rd (6-4) Paid $37.80. Trifecta Top-3rd-2nd (6-4-2) Paid $88.50.
Aqueduct Race # 6 Top Pick Winner # 1 (Nullify) Paid $15.40. Exacta Top with 2nd (1-4) Paid $67.  Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 1A) AL'S LARK - Sharp and consistent sprinter exits a series of fast races last three starts off a layoff. Tactical speed and right post to sit a perfect trip. Reunited with Coa. (# 7) Mockingbird Lane - Loves to run second, so that is where I am placing him. Comes off three straight second-place finishes despite tough trips. Gets a monumental rider change to Dominguez. (# 2) Estimator - Victimized by troubled start and wide trip in last. Good efforts prior three starts. Switches to Maragh who is having a strong meet. FAIR GROUNDS Race #SIX (3:50 PM Eastern) (# 1) TIGER MONARCH - Extremley consistent speedster is clearly the one to catch from the rail. Succumbed late to fast pace in last. Back with State Breds today. (# 7) Z Storm - Back on dirt which he clearly prefers. Consistent stalker will be taking up the chase behind top pick. Likes this course. (# 2) Tommy's Turn - Sharpened on grass in last off the layoff for this spot back on dirt. Versatile four-year-old can close or stalk. (# 11) Cat Man - Gets leading rider who should be able to work out a good closing trip with a horse who will be a price. Solid barn. Loves this track. AQUEDUCT Race #NINE (4:10 PM Eastern) (# 7) LYKE A HURRICANE - Needed last off the layoff. Set quick pace until tiring late. Makes second start with blinkers and Lasix. One to catch! (# 9) Smart Thinker - Improved effort Nov. 24 off the trainer change. Bumped at the start than hard used chasing top pick. (# 8) Arrrr - Disliked wet track in last. Race in debut better than it looks. Off slow than wide throughout. Solid work Nov. 28. FAIR GROUNDS Race #TEN (Best Bet On The Day!) (5:40 PM Eastern) (# 1) COSTA RISING - No doubt he shakes loose early, slows the pace down in field lacking much speed. Draws rail and gets a huge rider change to the red hot Albarado. (# 2) Tortuga Straits - Top trainer used sprint last out off the layoff for this stretch out. One-for-one at the FG. Tactical speed and good post to give top pick a run for the money. (# 5) Southern Invasion - Second to "Coasta Rising" in last switching back to dirt. Should sit a good stalking trip but the added distance could pose a problem late. FAIR GROUNDS Race #ELEVEN (6:15 PM Eastern) (# 13) FAST FEAT - Returns for excellent layoff trainer. Scored in lone start at the FG off similar hiatus. Three wins and four seconds in nine career starts. Has excellant tactical speed. (# 2) Tortuga Straits - NOTE: He is cross entered in race 10 (my second pick as he is in this race). Will be scratched from one of these two races, so he remains second pick in either case. (# 7) Nowandforevermore - Returns. Has won off a layoff in the past. Two-for-three over this course. Versatile four-year-old can stalk or close. Gets leading rider Albarado. (# 12) Captain Buddy - Never been worse than second in seven career starts. Dangerous tactical speed. Stretches out.
