Today's Best Bet is #5 Canaval in Race #3 at Hollywood Park. Saturday's Results: Aqueduct Race #7 Ex. (7-5) $28.80. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #1 (LIGHTS OUT ANNIE) - Filly easily broke her maiden a month ago, wiring a field on the main-track here in her first race since Last March. Effort translates into one of the best races any of these has ever run. Repeat of it gets the job done. 2nd pick: #1a (Chanced) - Coupled in the wagering with the top pick. Good stalker fits well and is working steadily for her first race in just over two months. Nice entry mate can win this if the top pick is sub-par. 3rd pick: #3 (Vicarious) - Cuts back in distance off a pace-pressing try in the Belmont mud going a mile. Previous sprint tries are solid and she could be an exacta player. 4th pick: #2 (City Attraction) - Comes-back from a seven-week layoff for trainer Chris Clement. Has some tactical speed and draws the rail. Her form had tailed off badly prior to the rest, and she has a nice drill on November 11. Exotics posibility. AQUEDUCT Race #9 at 4:10 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (BROAD ACRES) - Consistent performer will be making his first start for trainer Greg DiPrima, a 23% winning move. Level is fine as is the distance. He's beaten better during this season, and should receive a solid pace to stalk. Win choice. 2nd pick: #1 (Big Emi) - Speedy, draws the rail, and goes first off a Scott Lake claim, a 26% winning move by him. Has stalking ability and loves these distance races (21-5-6-5). Very tough from on or just off the lead. 3rd pick: #5 (Sleek Hunter) - Richard Dutrow runner is coming off a very strong win at the Meadowlands at this price tag against weaker. Nicely-bred colt is on an upward form cycle and is a threat with a repeat of his last. 4th pick: #4 (Golden Man) - Veteran will be dropping in price and stretching-out to two-turns again. Can see him being competitive against these. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #3 at 4:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (CANAVAL) - Comes back from just over a two month layoff for the top barn of Neil Drysdale. Fields most experienced runner has run too good to lose in three of his six lifetime starts. Very tough to beat here. 2nd pick: #4 (General Buffet) - Good speed shown last out in his second back from a eight-month layoff for trainer Mike Puype. Stretches-out and will also be trying the turf course today. Working swiftly and he's a threat on the front end. 3rd pick: #6 (Blasterman) - Another "Puype" runner, this one is bred for the grass and he made some late progress in his debut after being away slowly. Clean break and he'll be heard from late. 4th pick: #1 (Figeac) - Claimed last out by a low-profile barn (Rafael Martinez). Runner is almost five-years-old and has only one start. Nicely bred and he showed good debut speed after a "tardy" beginning. Will try both the turf and a distance today. FAIR GROUNDS Race #9 at 5:20 PM Eastern Top pick: #9 (POINTS OF GRACE) - Impressive win in her debut on polytrack, she'll move to the grass for her first try against winners. In a very good barn (Malcolm Pierce) she's bred for the turf, and could be a square price. 2nd pick: #8 (Forever Red) - Daughter of "Red Ransom" raced well here last winter and is just now getting back into shape. Has good late kick and this Canadian shipper is a late threat. 3rd pick: #7 (Altesse Imperiale) - Irish-bred miss is in the barn of "Hall of Famer" Bill Mott. Raced well in her U.S. debut with lasix added for that run. Normal improvement should make her a contender. 4th pick: #6 (Talkin Indian) - Hasn't raced since July when she was racing in good company. Now in the top barn of Richie Scherer, she training sharply for her return run. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #7 at 6:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (WITHIN REASON) - Drops slightly in price off a very strong effort on November 16, at this distance. Race was his best since coming back from a two-month layoff and he should win this with a slight move forward. 2nd pick: #1 (Luhuk's Dancer) - Speedy gelding won his last at this distance against slightly weaker. Hard-hitter was a stakes performer in the North-West and that recent win came second off a layoff. Trainer (Ted West) has him razor sharp at present. 3rd pick: #6 (Devil's Afleet) - Fast colt is adept on both turf and poly. Freshened-up since his last on November 6, when he tired after setting/pressing a fast pace. Three-year-old was beaten by six lengths by the top pick in that one. Could clear early and that would make him tough. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
