Free Horse Racing Pick - August 14, 2008Saratoga received a pretty fair soaking again yesterday so we'll strategically limit our action there to scheduled dirt races until it dries out a bit. We have three from the Spa. and one tilt from Del Mar on today's program. Today's Best Bet is #5 Law Enforcement in Race #3 at Saratoga. Wednesday's Results: Saratoga Race #8 Top Pick #6 (Premium Wine) $3.80. Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #1 (SEMINOLE LASS) - Firster by a good win-early sire, "Indian Charlie" resides in a winning barn (Mike Trombetta) and trainer has already had a pair of firsts at the meet. Stable unveiled a good looking debut winner here last year. Has solid works and the rail advantage. Jockey/trainer team is a strong one, winning at 30%. 2nd pick: #5 (Argyle Pink) - Barn had a firster finish second here yesterday and this filly's works are better than that runners. Daughter of "Sky Mesa" looks well prepared by trainer Ed Kenneally. 3rd pick: #3 (Selective) - Solid barn with youngsters (Steve Asmussen), this filly has been in steady training, first at Sam Houston, then at Keeneland and now here. The latest work is very sharp. SARATOGA Race #3 at 2:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (Law Enforcement) - Lightly-raced runner appears to have a big future in the New York-bred ranks. Showed ample talent at two and has been sharp in both of his starts at three. Looked very good in his latest at Belmont defeating among others, "Spanky Fishbein" who won easily here this past week. 2nd pick: #4 (Megapixel) - Returns from almost a two-month freshening after having a busy winter/spring campaign. Works are sharp for this attempt and he showed plenty of talent earlier this year. 3rd pick: #2 (Be Bullish) - Stakes winner brings some good closing punch to the fray and may be able to complete the exacta with one of his better efforts. SARATOGA Race #6 at 3:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (BURNS UP THE TRACK) - Pressed a very fast pace while wide here on opening week. Race was his first in seven-weeks and he comes back quickly for this with a good interim work on view. Factor from gate to wire in a good betting race. 2nd pick: #4 (War Ruler) - Hugged the rail in the same race as the top pick and rallied late for the place. Trainer (Ian Wilkes) won his first of the meet yesterday. 3rd pick: #6 (Georgian) - Very speedy runner is coming off a nine-month layoff for trainer Mike Trombetta. Gelding just missed here last year and he's been working sharply for this come-backer. Win contender. 4th pick: #2 (Ecton) - Never got involved in the July 25 race over this track that was common to several others entered today. Could run much better today with a race over the track, and at a much "juicier" price. DEL MAR Race #1 at 5:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (HOLLADAY DIXIE) - Daughter of "Dixie Union" shortens up in distance and drop into a claimer for the first time in her career. Think she'll receive a nice clear stalking trip and go by them turning for home. 2nd pick: #3 (Sleepin In) - Five-year-old mare has run sharply in her three appearances and will be running in a claimer for the first time. Has plenty of speed to bring, but will need to finish better. 3rd pick: #1 (Dolly Daggers) - New Zealand-bred and raced before coming to the U.S., she raced evenly in a longer grass race back in June in her first on this soil. Has a solid work pattern since and it's interesting that Nakatani takes the return mount. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
