Free Kentucky Derby Picks - August 13, 2008It's back to Saratoga for three and a single contest from Del Mar for our Wednesday racing menu. Today's Best Bet is # 2 Tigley in Race # 3 at Del Mar. Tuesday's Results: Delaware Park Race #2 Delaware Park Race #3 Exacta (8-2) $36.40. Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #6 (CELESTIAL DIAMOND) - $700,000 son of "Malibu Moon" has been picking up his works of late and trainer (Kiaran McLaughlin) has already unveiled some quick debut runners at this meet. High profile barn (West Point Thoroughbreds) loves to win some at this meet. Ready to roll. 2nd pick: #4 (LAVER) - Debut race at Keeeneland in early April was fine, and runner has been given plenty of time to grow and mature since. Contender from the Pletcher barn. 3rd pick: #7 (Mesa Sunrise) - Last years leading barn (Bill Mott) has had six times as many minor awards at this meet than wins. That's the way this game goes. Latest drill from the gate is very fast and $800,000 son of "Sky Mesa" could be a runner. 4th pick: #3 (Grizzily Peak) - Trainer (Eddie Kenneally) is one of the best in the mid-west and son of "Tale of the Cat" could sneak away at a big price. Attracts Prado and some of the drills are sharp. SARATOGA Race #8 at 4:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (PREMIUM WINE) - Drops down for this after running in four straight races against "Graded" stakes company. Draws a good post at one of his favorite distances (7-1-2-3) and Dominguez is back aboard and he is undefeated ( 3 for 3) on this veteran. 2nd pick: #4 (Diamond Isle) - Shortens up in distance after finishing second at Belmont going 8.5-furlongs in his first race since last November. Training well for this, he's run big races second off the bench in the past. 3rd pick: #2 (Call Me Tony) - He's the 2B in this race and is coupled with "Piety". Either half will do as our third selection. Both are speed/stalking types and look well set-up by trainer Bruce Levine. 4th pick: #3 (Starforaday) - Fast but fragile runner, is capable of a big race if spottted corrrectly and given enough time between races, and that's today's case. Post is of no help and he'll need a trouble free trip. SARATOGA Race #10 at 6:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (COPS FEVER) - Excellent try two back on the Belmont grass and he ran well in a nine-furlong event last out in a switched race here on opening day. Obvious contender will probably be put into a tracking spot here. 2nd pick: #9 (Castle Harbour) - Win threat ran a big race last out at Belmont in his first grass race ever. Finished strongly in that one and he should get a lively pace to close into today. 3rd pick: #1 (Multitude) - Makes his second lifetime start and first race since July of '07. Would expect him to show some speed in the return run. 4th pick: #3 (Winloc's Saint Ray) - Speed shown in his last pair, which were his first two races on the dirt. Draws a good inside post and will be involved from start to finish. 5th pick: #4 (All the Way Home) - Improved noticeably on July 16, in his first on the grass and first back off a 2 1/2 month layoff. Can threaten in this wide open affair. DEL MAR Race #3 at 6:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #2 (TIGLEY) - Big speed shown in his first pair and he drops back down after facing tougher in start number two. Shortens up a bit in distance and is inside of the other contenders. Takes this wire-to-wire. 2nd pick: #9 (Michael's Notes) - Drops after showing speed against MSW foes in his debut. Obvious contender but the big plunge in value is at least a "bit" suspicious. 3rd pick: #7 (Norco Pal) - Likes to race from just off the pace and it's posible that the front could be fast/contested if the top pair "lock horns". Has a sharp 6-furlong drill in preparation for this and is a legitimate threat. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
