Harness Horse Racing - August 07, 2008The connections of reigning Horse of the Year "Curlin" announced that he will make his next start in the Woodward S. (G1) at Saratoga on August 30. Race was already going to draw a small field, but with the "champ" on hand that makes it a certainty. Today we have the normal weekday menu with a total of four races, three from Saratoga and one from Del Mar. Today's Best Bet is #6 Dose of Reality in Race #7 at Saratoga. Wednesday's Results: Saratoga Race #2 Ex (5-7) $54.00. Saratoga Race #6 T-Fecta (3-1-2) $25.40. Del Mar Race #3 Best Bet #4 (Steal My Charm) $4.40. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 3) WONDERWHO'SBEST - Levine barn is beginning to heat up a bit with winners the past three racing days and this filly will be cutting back in distance from a mile to six-furlongs and she'll also be switching back to the dirt. Looks well set-up for a big effort. (# 5) Bridled Path - Probable early leader will be making her third start back off a March layoff and will be running for the second time for trainer Mike Maker. Trainer won his first of the meet on Sunday and followed that up with another yesterday. Filly brings dangerous speed to the contest. (# 4) Abby Morgan - Rallied late in an "off the turf" event last out to pick up the victory. Consistent and capable, she'll be heard from in the last 1/4 mile. Filly would benefit by a fast/contested pace. (# 2) Holy Trouble - Contessa runner is coming back off a seven-week layoff and her latest work on August 2, indicates that she's ready to roll. She'll need to improve on her earlier '08 races to contend for the win. SARATOGA Race #SEVEN (4:15 PM Eastern) (# 6) DOSE OF REALITY - Makes her third start back off the bench and will be cutting back in distance after setting the pace to the final furlong in a mile race. Looks ready to run her best today. (# 5) Zip By You - She's run well in three of her four starts this year and all have been sprinting on the grass. She had an awful time at the start of her latest and was basically eliminated in that one. Previous three runs make her a win contender. (# 3) Fast Learner - Lightly-raced four-year-old by "Royal Academy" has won two of her four turf starts and will be cutting back in distance for this. Filly lacks any early speed so she'll need a fast/contested pace and a trouble-free journey. (# 9) My Anna Rose - Win may be stretching it a bit, but she could impact the exotics with one of her better efforts and could do so at a big price. SARATOGA Race #EIGHT (4:45 PM Eastern) (# 5) TRUST NOBODY - Talented runner brings a solid record (19-3-6-6) to the contest and he'll be making his first start for trainer Bruce Levine after racing well in California earlier this year. Speed/stalker is a major win threat in his first start since June 11. (# 1) Minot Light - Hard-hitter likes the two-turn aspect of this race and has run well up and down the Atlantic sea-board against "open" competition. Draws the rail and has some speed and it's a very strong jockey/trainer combination, Dominguez/Gorham and they are winning at 41% over the past two years. (# 3) Theartofcompromise - Lightly-raced son of "Broken Vow" has come to hand quickly for trainer Phil Serpe and looked very impressive in breaking his maiden last out. Circled the field around the far turn and exploded late to win by almost 12-lengths. Certainly has a "bright" future. (# 7) Fortune Faded - Speedy sort may try and outrun them to the first turn and speed has done very well in the majority of the 1 1/8th mile races run so far at the meet. DEL MAR Race #THREE (6:00 PM Eastern) (# 4) ONETIMEATBANDCAMP - Speedy colt has been "tearing" up the track at Santa Anita and now here in his preparations for returning to the races after a two month layoff. Looks ready to go for trainer Eric Kruljac and he can win this wire-to-wire. (# 7) Mr. Chips - Son of "Sky Mesa" will be making his second start back following an April debut and he'll also go in a claimer for the first time. Working well and gets a nice post to stalk from. (# 6) Taleitlikeitaint - Another who will drop into a claimer for the firstime. Son of "Tale of the Cat'" has run evenly in his three appearances and hasn't been beaten all that much in any. Drop makes him a threat. (# 1) Mr. Inn Zone - Speedy runner draws the rail for his first race since June 8. Working well for Bill Spawr and runner will be in this at least to the top of the stretch.
