Horse Racing Entry - August 05, 2008Today with both Saratoga and Del Mar dark we'll concentrate all our action on Delaware Park. Today's Best Bet is #8 Quiet Lee in Race #7 at Delaware Park. Monday's Results: Saratoga Race #3 Top Pick # 1 (Under Serviced) $3.80. Saratoga Race #7 Best Bet Winner # 5 (Persistent Penny) $4.00. We had winners listed in our other two races, Saratoga Race # 6, Horse # 7 (Fiddlers Princess) $29.60 and Saratoga Race #9, Horse # 1 (Wesley) $8.70, but couldn't them hooked up correctly in the exacta. Today's Horse Racing Picks: (# 2) HOORAY RIVERSIDE - Filly has begun to get her act together since arriving from Florida and being switched to the barn of Mike Petro. Raced against tougher before arriving here and a drop down to this $12,500 price tag has made her competitive. Repeat of her last would get the job done. (# 5) Vata - Returns from an eight-week freshening for trainer Randy Nunley. She'll attempt a distance of ground for only the second time in her career. Filly ran well in several starts earlier this year sprinting. (# 7) Pam's Good Deed - Finished a close-up third last out, but in doing so she ran evenly and was defeated by the top pick with no visible excuse. DELAWRE PARK Race #TWO (1:10 PM Eastern) (# 2) REALLY NICE - Very competitive mare (33-10-5-8) and she's raced against tougher than these her whole career. Raced evenly last out while wide at Monmouth against $18,000 foes and drops down to $10K today. Last pair at this tag have resulted in wins. (# 1) Charmed By Charlie - Another who has raced against better most of her career. Just missed several starts back for $17,500 on this track, at this distance from the rail post. Contender at a good price. (# 6) Cashew Cat - Speedy filly is coming off a "handy" score at this track running for $5000. Claimed out of that race by Randy Nunley, he runs her back for twice that sum today. She's had a solid year (11-3-5-2) and her overall record here is excellent (3-2-1-0). (# 4) Solitary Song - Drops and goes from the Presque Isle synthetic back to conventional dirt. Mid-pack type could easily rebound with that switch and a drop in claiming price. DELAWRE PARK Race #SEVEN (3:25 PM Eastern) (# 8) QUIET LEE - Drops and is in shape. Others entered have some question marks as to they're current fitness, but this runner is not in that category. She's shown good speed against tougher and gets a good outside slot to use it from. (# 6) Last Request - Drops off a January layoff and a switch in trainers. She's flashed some speed against better and is a threat if prepared to run off the eight month rest. (# 4) Emmerton Lane - Four-year-old has only one start on her resume, last summer at Calder. Bet to favoritism that day she broke poorly and rallied late for the place. Light and slow works are on view, but she's a contender if ready to go. (# 3) Stormy C's - Filly has finished second in three of eight lifetime starts and will be running for her lowest tag ever. She still needs to pick it up a bit to contend for thw win. DELAWARE PARK Race #NINE (4:15 PM Eastern) (# 9) FIRST GRANDSON - Makes his third start off a six month layoff and he's finished close-up thirds in his return pair. Now with trainer Andy Simoff, runner ran some big races last year in New York. He's slipped in value, but is approaching his best and can beat these with a clear trip. (# 1) Read My Tale - Well-bred runner has come to hand quickly in his last pair of starts. Both good positional speed and finishing kick in those two, and he picked up his maiden win last out. Connections pick a very reasonable spot for his first shot with winners. (# 5) Announce of Gold - Didn't fire in his last, but he had finished second in his last four prior to that run and they were all at this tag and distance. (# 10) Jack Be Fast - He's a much improved runner this year over last, and in finishing second last out at this tag and distance he ran his best race "figure" wise in his career.
