Horse Handicapping - October 31, 2010Happy Halloween and look out for those "spooky grey" horses today at Belmont. It's an all two-year-old card at Belmont today and we have four races for selections and analysis. Today's Best Bet is #8 Amusing in Race #2. East Coast Results: Belmont Park race #6 Top Pick #9 (Our Khrysty) $5.40. Delaware Park Race #5 T-fecta box (5-6-1) $49.80. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #8 (FORBIDDEN BREW) - Much improved effort last out in his second start when trainer Seth Benzel switched him over to the turf. Better speed was shown that day and blinkers will go on for this attempt. The top selection. 2nd pick: #4 (Indian Lily) - Bred for the turf (Indian Charlie) and that's where trainer Chad Brown will send her for her second start. Working well, she'll drop into a claimer and go longer. Contender. 3rd pick: #3 (Bangzoomtothemoon) - Has fine early speed and she's improving in each start. Latest saw her finisg a chasing second at this price going 7 furlongs. Threat on the front-end. 4th pick: #11 (Promise to Sharon) - Forced wide when debuting here on Sept. 24 a very hot barn (Barclay Tagg) will stretch her out in distance and drop her into a claimer. Draws a nice outside post for this trip and Tagg wins at a 20% rate second time out. 5th pick: #12 (Montessori) - Longshot raced evenly when debuting at Saratoga in a sprint that was switched to the main track. Tries the grass, stretches out in distance, and drops into a claimer. Could grab a share at a big price. BELMONT PARK Race #2 at 1:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (AMUSING) - Excellent debut saw her "bumped" at the start, quickly rush into contention, and hold on well for the place spot. Working fast since and she's much the horse to beat this afternoon. 2nd pick: #1 (Wicked Deed) - Race for a good second out barn (Steve Asmussen 24%) and filly chased and tired in her debut to finish 4 lengths behind the top pick. Has the rail and could give the top pick a good tussle today. 3rd pick: #7 (Cadazzle) - She was handled rather easily last out by the top pick but could grab a minor award again today with a repeat of that run. 4th pick: #3 (Datt's Cool) - Has a "bullet" drill at Monmouth Oct. 17 and if she runs to it she could factor today. Filly races for a barn (Mark Hennig) that almost never wins first out. BELMONT PARK Race #3 (THE GREY PLANET) at 2:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (POSEIDON'S WARRIOR) - Mid-Atlantic shipper is the field's only stakes winner (at Monmouth) and he followed that up with another good try in a $75K race at Delaware. Sped/stalker draws outside of the other pace and can win this with a clear trip. 2nd pick: #5 (Schmooz Talker) - He "whistled" last out at Finger Lakes in his first ever on real dirt and colt has a "bullet" work locally after shipping here. In a good barn (Charlton Baker) and this runner should be a big price. 3rd pick: #3 (Royal Currier) - Speedy gelding was claimed earlier this year by Patty farro and is (2-1-1-0) since then. Dominguez climbs aboard and this runner could be tough if he clears without a struggle. 4th pick: #4 (Brother in Arms) - He'll cut back in distance after chasing and tiring in the G1 "Champagne" here Oct. 9. Previous race saw him break his maiden here at this distance. Contends today. BELMONT PARK Race #5 at 3:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #3 (MEMORY MOTEL) - Has good early speed and the leading trainer here (Rudy Rodriquez) will drop him into a claimer and give a leg-up to Dominguez. The pair wins at a 46% rate when teamed-up. The top pick. 2nd pick: #10 (Capitol Hook) - Nice effort in his debut saw him rate early after moving to the rail and rally late to finish third, beaten only 2 lengths. Drops into a claimer and is a win candidate. 3rd pick: #12 (Seattle Louie) - Has good speed/stalking ability and last out finished second here at this tag. Draws a tough post but is a contender nontheless. 4th pick: #2 (Hold That Memory) - He showed good speed in his debut after breaking poorly and can contend today if he breaks cleanly. 5th pick: #7 (More Than Lucky) - Firster from the Asmussen barn has been working steadily at Saratoga and can factor if ready.
