Preankess Pick - June 30, 2010We're heading into the July 4th weekend and that means lots of racing and lots of stakes at most every major venue. Our East Coast Newsletter will be concentrating on both Belmont and Monmouth and we'll have it all covered for you. Today we have three races from Belmont and one from Delaware to make up our Wednesday East Coast sheet. The Best Bet is #6 Zermatt in Race #2 at Belmont Park. Tuesday's East Coast Results:  Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #6 (ZERMATT) - Speedy daughter of "Tiznow" finished a pace-chasing 2nd at Monmouth Park May 29th in her first off a 7 week break and hqas a "bullet" drill ther on June 21st. In the Pletcher barn and sophomore will be making back-to-back starts for the first time. The top selection. 2nd pick: #4 (Bashoosha) - $575,000 daughter of "Distorted Humor" flashed big speed in a pair of starts last season at age two and they both came on "off" tracks. Working well at Saratoga for her first start since Oct.18th and her trainer (Kiaran McLaughlin) is solid off of long layoffs (20%). 3rd pick: #7 (Long Gone) - Goes turf to dirt after a "troubled" outing last out here at this trip on the lawn. Race was her first in 9 months and she should he much sharper today. Barn (Carlos Martin) has won with four of it's last nine off of long breaks. BELMONT PARK Race #6 at 3:30 PM Eastern Top pick: #10 (WICKED DIVA) - Filly is lightly raced, well-bred, in a good barn (Mike Hushion), working well, and she'll be trying a distance beyond 6 furlongs for the first time. The top pick. 2nd pick: #6 (Team Plan) - Lightly raced and she has a flexible style. Stretches-out in distance for the first time and also makes back-to-back starts today. Price play. 3rd pick: #8 (Vicarious) - Always tries hard and she's run well here at this level and distance in a pair of starts since coming back from a 7 month layoff. Her trainer, "Hall of Famer" H. Allen Jerkens is having a great meet (20-7-3-2). Contender. 4th pick: #11 (Sweethearts Kiss ) - Much improved since blinkers went on in February she's run well in a pair of starts at this level, including a near miss here at this trip on May 20th. Stretch threat. 5th pick: #3 (Rogue's Jewel) - The field's "wild Card" hasn't seen action since last fall when she was in very good form. Working nicely and is in a great long layoff barn (Carlos Martin 35%). BELMONT PARK Race #7 at 4:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (SETTLING SEAS) - Filly finished a pace-setting/pressing 2nd here at this level and distance June 16th and is brought back quickly (14 days) by a barn (Bill Mott) that doesn't do that very often. Likes the surface(3-0-2-1) and is the horse to beat. 2nd pick: #2 (Smart Woman ) - She loked sharp in winning her grass debut here June 10th and she has a fine stalking style. Lightly raced and with a fine drill since her win, she keps Dominguez who had other options. 3rd pick: #7 (Chicks in Slacks) - Never worse than 4th in seven career turf races she finished 3rd last out here at this level and distance. Race was her best yet and she's a strong factor today. 4th pick: #1 (Star Orchid) - Has the best early speed and the inside post to use it from. Capable, but she loses Dominguez to "Smart Woman". Contender nontheless. DELAWARE PARK Race #8 at 4:20 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (SHIRLEY SHE CAN) - Belmont invader is lioghtly raced and improving. Recent maiden winner did so in wire-to-wire fashion in her first ever on the turf. Working fast since and she's the horse to beat. 2nd pick: #1 (Heroic Pursuit) - Bred for the turf and this speedy daughter of "El Corredor" will be trying the grass and a two-turn distance, both for the first time. Win candidate. 3rd pick: #4 (Arthur's Appeal) - She defeated weaker here May 26th when making her turf debut but her speed/stalking style plays well on this course. Contender again today. 4th pick: #3 (Gold Record) - Has some back races that put her in this though she's been a bit "dull" since coming back from a layoff. Price play. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
